Whole School Reward
As our Whole School Reward- Movie and Popcorn, the Preps have voted and chosen to watch 'Minions: The Rise of Gru'. Please keep an eye out for a Compass Event in the coming days, to provide permission and payment.
Responsible Pet Program
We have the Responsible Pet Program visiting us in Week 1. Please keep an eye out for a Compass Event where you will need to provide permission.
What we have been up to...
Milo's Birthday
We had the best day celebrating Milo's birthday! Thank you for your help with costumes!
Our Scavenger Hunt was a great success and we had a 'picnic' lunch in the Hub together.
Maths
Last week, we were learning about length. We had lots of practise measuring objects using blocks and our hands. We practised lining objects up in order from tallest to shortest. These are all things you can also do at home!
Most exciting was making a beanstalk from out story 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and then measuring it using the 'Giants foot', 'Jacks foot' and then Unifix blocks. We got to predict and then confirm if our guesses were correct.
Each day we warm up our brains for Maths by participating in 'Number Talks'. These are when students share strategies, reflect on others' strategies, and learn to see maths in different ways.
Upcoming Fortnight
Week 9
Literacy:
We will be revising the sounds that we have learnt so far and using our knowledge to read and write small words and sentences. We will be reading the story The Ugly Duckling and revising the Heart Words 'my' and 'to'.
Mathematics:
We will be learning about addition and looking at 3D shape.
Topic:
We will be doing activities based around our book- The Ugly Duckling.
Term 3
Week 1
Literacy:
We will be learning about the sound that 'ss' makes and using our knowledge to read and write small words and sentences. We will be reading the story The Pocket Dogs and revising the Heart Words 'her' and 'are'.
Mathematics: We will be learning about place value and skip counting.
RRRR:
Stress Management- The melting tiger game.
Topic:
We will be beginning our topic on Animals, starting off by learning about Pets and having a visit from the Responsible Pet Program.
