Week 8, Term 2

Reminders 

  • Homework - Week 9: There will be no homework next week due to our 3/4 Camp
  • Camp Campaspe Downs - Week 9 (21st-23rd June): Please see below for further information!
  • Homework - Week 1 (Term 3): Reading Diary only 
  • Homework - Week 2 (Term 3): Reading Diary and Big Talk Homework
  • Home Reading Diaries must be checked each night and come to school Friday with a parent signature. Students will need to read a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 nights each week.

SWPBS Whole School Reward - Super Mario Bros Movie!

The Year 3/4s are very excited to celebrate our end of term whole school reward by watching the new Super Mario Bros movie on Tuesday, 20th June! Please remember to give permission and payment on Compass if you would like your child to be apart of this event.

ALSO - feel free to send along something comfortable like a pillow, cushion or Oodie as we will be watching this movie in the Manya. 

Camp - Week 9 (21st - 23rd, June)

Please find some reminders below (as sent out on Compass):

  • Medication: we have sent home a medication form with all students today. This will only need to be filled out if your child requires medication on camp. If your child does require medication, please fill-out this form and include it in a named zip lock bag with the medication. On Wednesday morning before we depart, Mr Parkes will be collecting all medication in the office.  
  • Arrival Time: there is no need for students to arrive any earlier than 8:30am Wednesday morning. However, if you do arrive any earlier, please place bags in the Hub.
  • Departure: students will assemble in the hub at 8:45am on the Wednesday before moving onto the buses at 9am.
  • Morning Tea & Drink Bottle: students will only need to bring morning tea for the first day of camp, as lunch will provided for us. Please have morning tea in named zip-lock or recyclable bag. Morning tea and drink bottles will be placed into tubs on Wednesday morning before we depart. Please do not put morning tea or the drink bottle in the suitcase.  
  • Electronic Devices & Valuables: students are not permitted to bring any electronic devices or lollies on camp. Valuable items should also be left at home.
  • Arrival Time Friday: we will be returning to school by 2:15pm on Friday for the end of term early dismissal. A Compass alert will be sent out on Friday at around lunch time to confirm our exact time of arrival back at SGPS.
  • Naming Items: where possible and practical, please name your child’s items.

Scienceworks Excursion - Term 3

National Science Week will be held in Week 6 of next term. In order to celebrate this special week, the Year 3/4s will be heading to Melbourne Scienceworks on Monday, 14th of August where they will explore the museum and enjoy a workshop in the lightning room. The cost for this event will be $40 with further information to be released next term.

Our Last Few Weeks.....

Students have thoroughly enjoyed our weekly Tennis sessions as well as our Homework reward sessions on Friday afternoons. Check out some pics below of some of the fun we've been having!

Learning in Weeks 1 & 2 of Term 3

Mathematics: During Week 9, students will be finishing off their Maths Camp projects. We will move on to 'Time' in our Fluid Groups next term and will also look at 'Graphing' and 'Angles' during Applied Maths

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will be focusing on writing a Recount text all about their fabulous camp experience! In Reading, we will be learning how to critique texts and will be reading a wide variety of picture books to help us in developing this skill.

 

Topic: In our new Topic unit, 'Forces and Functions', students will be exploring the concept of force and working towards ultimately building a balloon powered car!
