Carroll Cup Champions

A big congratulations to our Senior Boys school AFL team who secured the Carroll Cup for the second year in a row! Their dominant performance in the Grand Final against Mater Dei resulted in a resounding victory, with a winning margin of 10 goals. Congratulations to the entire team for their remarkable achievement.

Throughout the competition, several players showcased exceptional skill and dedication. In particular, the Kildare captain - Jackson Connolly. We had fantastic contributions from all of the 28 members of our squad, with particular mention to Jake Sullivan, Coby Bourke, Jackson Casley, Matt Ryan, Arshpreet Singh, Campbell Mattingly and Kobe Drummond for their outstanding contributions in big games, contributing to the team's success.

This back-to-back triumph is a testament to the players' hard work, teamwork, and unwavering determination. Thanks to Mr Geoff McNamara and Mr David Kennedy for their assistance through the competition, and to the parents of the boys, who showed great support to the players and coaches.

The AFL team accomplishments in all four competitions this year is a testament to the work that the students and staff put in. Congratulations to the coaches and students of all of our AFL Teams on their achievements in 2023.

Under 15 Girls AFL

Congratulations to the Under 15 girls AFL team who made the grand final of the CWWHSSA AFL competition.

The girls played 4 preliminary games and beat WWHS, TRAC, and KHS convincingly, however on the grand final night they went down to MDCC. They played well and fought to the end but were beaten by a bigger, better team. There was some excellent leadership throughout the carnival by Majella Day and Abbey Hodge. Many thanks to all the families who supported the girls or goal umpired each week.

The Under-15 Girls Are As Follows

Open Girls AFL

Congratulations to the Open Girls AFL side who beat MDCC in the grand final last Wednesday night. They qualified for the final by winning the Gala day two weeks ago against KHS, WWHS, MDCC, and TRAC. The girls played exceptionally well as a team throughout the gala day and the grand final. The defense and midfield were exceptional in minimizing MDCC's scoring opportunities. and delivering it back up to our forwards to score the goals. Congratulations to Lily Chisholm, Anna Sase, Emma Suckling, Bridie Gregurke, and Abbey Nitschke (who snuck down from back) who scored goals in the grand final. Kate Wallace and Emma Suckling led by example, and this was epitomized when Emma was named MVP for the Grand Final. The girls have now qualified for the State Final in Tuggerah on the 15th of June. Many thanks to families and teachers who came to support the girls and to Majella, Abbey, and Grace who helped run water for the girls.

Tracey Gunson Netball

Well done to Amelia Nejman, Chloe Hartas, Mia Shepherd, Lucy Bradshaw, Ava Cunningham, Piper Meurant, Abby Jordan, Charli Wallace and our Captain, Olivia Driscoll, in the Year 7 and 8 team.

Over the past three weeks our Senior Netball team and our Year 7 and 8 Netball team have been competing in the Combined Wagga High Schools Tracey Gunson Netball Shield.

Our senior team played TRAC and Mater Dei Catholic College in the round games with mixed results. The girls started strong in their first game against TRAC winning 29 to 21. Round 2 saw us play our rivals Mater Dei Catholic College. Despite a close first quarter, Mater Dei were too strong and won the match 44 to 24. Finishing second in our pool we then faced the winner of Pool B, Kooringal High School. The girls played some exceptional netball and won the game 40 to 21.

Our senior girls gave it their all in the highly anticipated Tracey Gunson Grand Final against Mater Dei Catholic College on Tuesday afternoon at Equex stadium. The game was an absolute nail-biter, with the lead changing hands multiple times throughout. Our incredible girls kept their cool and showcased their extraordinary skills on the court. Despite a hard fought battle, our girls unfortunately went down by just 2 goals - final score 32 to 30. They played with incredible determination and fought until the very end. We couldn't be prouder of our girls! A special thank you to all the parents, staff and students who come down to Equex stadium to support us. The atmosphere was incredible.

Senior Team: Maeve Jackson, Mischa Garrod, Emily McPherson, Isabel Hogg, Anna Sase, Chole Turnbull, Kate Wallace, Lainey Shepherd and Abbey Nitschke.

Our Year 7 and 8’s team came up against some tough competition in each of their games. We played our round games against TRAC and Mater Dei and unfortunately went down to both of these quality sides. Injuries and illnesses also hampered our efforts throughout the competition. Finishing 3rd in our Pool, we met TRAC in the semi-final and despite an incredible effort, we lost to then progress to the 3rd/4th playoff against Kooringal High School. This team displayed some outstanding netball skills and whilst our team tried their hardest, we lost to achieve 4th place in the competition.

Special thanks to Mr Bacon (PDHPE Teacher) and Amanda McLachlan (KCC parent) for umpiring for us.
