Outdoor Environmental Studies Camp

Unit 1 - Outdoor & Environmental Studies - Allenvale Camp

Our new VCE Outdoor Education program took off on their first camp for the year at Lorne. Students made the trek from Blanket Leaf Picnic area down towards Allenvale Mill campground. This 9km trek included multiple creek crossings and muddy terrain.  Once at Allenvale, students were required to set-up camp and prepare their own meals using trangias. Day 2 saw the weather shift and students had to brave the wind and rain along the 10km track from Allenvale to the top of Teddy's lookout and return. For the afternoon students explored Wye River and enjoyed playing on the beach before returning to Allenvale and organising another camp dinner. The nights in Lorne during this camp were very chilly and students learnt the importance of rugging up. On the final day, the camp packed up and headed off for their final walk down to Erskine Falls and Straw Falls. From there everyone enjoyed a purchased lunch from Lorne. Highlights of the trip were all the waterfalls that were visited: Cora Lynn Cascades, Phantom Falls, Erskine Falls and Straw Falls. A big thank you to the staff that assisted with this camp and the students for sticking it out in some trying conditions.
