Special Event for the School of St Jude

On Thursday 8 June, Trinity College is proud to host a special event for Gemma Sisia, the Australian-born founder of the School of St Jude in Tanzania.

Built upon a mission to educate the poorest and brightest children, St Jude's first opened in the city of Arusha in 2002 with three students and one teacher. It now educates almost 2000 students across three campuses. The school's successes over the last twenty years and the scale of its vision are truly extraordinary. Over the next month, Gemma and her team are speaking at a variety of locations across Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.

Trinity College established a relationship with the School of St Jude in 2017 when the first group of our students visited as part of the Year 12 Tanzanian Immersion. Since this initial visit, we have run a further two immersions in Tanzania, and plans are already underway to return in 2024.

This public event will run in the Jubilee Auditorium from 6-8pm. Fusion Restaurant will be providing a light supper from 7-8pm in the Jubilee Foyer. Along with her address, Gemma is also launching a book that was written about her school and its mission called The School That Hope Built (copies of which will be available for sale on the night).

Refer to the flyer in this edition of the newsletter for more information about how to secure your tickets for this special event.
