Music News

New Music Staff

We would like to welcome former Killester student, Uyen My Pham, to the music department. Uyen My will be taking over the guitar tuition from Emma Yarosh who left us at the end of Term 1 to pursue full time employment. Uyen My was Dux of Killester College in 2018 and then proceeded to study Jazz Guitar at Monash University under Steve Magnusson. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music in Jazz performance and her Bachelor of Education (Secondary). I am sure she will fit in beautifully to our department having been a participant right through her secondary schooling. Welcome Uyen My.

Music Camp 2021

Plans are well under way for the Music Department's earth shattering, spell binding, world wide tour of the Upper Yarra Valley from May 14th to 16th. Over 45 girls are heading up to Arrabri Lodge in the beautiful Warburton Ranges for a weekend of school and community performances as well as some preparation for our school concert in late May ( see below).

Payments are now due for the camp and can be made in the accounts department at the front office. Thank-you to all the parents for your support for your daughters. This will be a great chance for the younger students to get to know our senior musicians and the whole department will really benefit from spending time together making music. Details of the itinerary will be coming soon as the final details are confirmed.

Tullow Opening

The newly formed KC Sisterhood - (formerly the Stage Band)  made their formal debut at the opening of our beautiful Performing Arts Building last night. The band performed a great version of "Can't take my Eyes off You", arranged by Ms Addis, and I would really like to thank all of the band members and Mr. Vague for their preparation for this important event. It was so great to hear live music!

The Brass ensemble, under the guidance of Ms. Katy Addis, will also started proceedings with the Olympic fanfare - the Bugler's Dream. The brass girls  learnt this fanfare off by heart and it sounded joyous and uplifting in the foyer of Tullow.

It really was a Killester celebration.
