What's on in the Community Hub?

'St. Anthony’s Community Hub provides access to services that help families support their children.'

What’s happening in the Hub?

Our adult learning classes continued remotely this week with tutors from Keysborough Learning Centre.

Activity packs were once again delivered to playgroup families with the focus of the pack being the life cycle of frogs and frog activities.  It is always heartwarming to see families face to face.

Debbie has this week continued uploading messages on Facebook and staying connected with families through phone calls and text messages.  Families have expressed their enjoyment of singing and story time online.

End of Term 2 reflection

Our Hub has operated very differently this term but we are grateful that it was not closed.

With the incredible support of our community partner, Keysborough Learning Centre we have been able to continue all of our adult learning programs during the term.  The flexibility of both tutors and students has been truly amazing.  Students have commented that they are enjoying remaining connected to one another however they cannot wait to return to classes on site.

Debbie and Lisa have continued to be the Victorian Representatives on the Community Hubs Australia, Hub Central Working Group.  Hub Central has been an important resource tool for Community Hub Leaders Australia wide.  It has enable them to access to a range of quality activities and supports whilst their Hubs have been operating remotely.

Debbie has continued to maintain contact with our wonderful playgroup families through various ways over the term.   She has continued to work with families to support them during this time by providing online early childhood activities, visits home delivering activity packs, phone calls and texts and the playgroup’s closed Facebook page.

As this edition of the newsletter goes to print we are still unsure how Term 3 Community Hub will look however we do know that we will continue to remain connected and supporting families.

Our Community Hub has many partnerships with organisations in the City of Greater Dandenong and the City of Casey.  If you need any assistance accessing local agencies or need help filling out forms or making phone calls, please feel free to give Lisa or Debbie a call on 9546 0044.  We also have access to the Translating and Interpreting Service if required.

Take care and stay safe

Debbie and Lisa
