Highly Successful and Diverse Careers 

Peter Gartlan (SVC 1977-82) went to Utas upon finishing at St Virgil’s where he gained a B. Com (Commerce & Information Science.) 

 

Peter has enjoyed a distinguished career as an IT Professional with over 30 years experience managing and delivering corporate and government ICT infrastructure solutions.

 

From 1996 – 2008 he was Executive Director of Comstra and then formed Gartlans IT Advisors in 2009 in Sandy Bay which assists businesses to exploit their technology.

 

Since 2017 David has been a Board member of Hobart City Mission – a not-for-profit charitable organisation providing welfare, family and community support services in southern Tasmania.

 

Peter has been a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 1997, was President of TasICT (Peak body for the Tasmanian ICT industry) from 2007 to 2009, and from 1999 to 2001 he was appointed by the Premier as the Founding Chairman of the Tasmanian IT Industry Council.

David Gartlan
David Gartlan

 

David Gartlan (SVC 1981-86) graduated from the University of Tasmania Medical School in 1994. Following two years in New South Wales and Queensland hospitals he worked in General Practice in Southern Tasmania.

 

Dr Gartlan completed Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Royal Hobart Hospital with other clinical work at the Launceston General Hospital and the North West Regional Hospital.

 

He continues to contribute to the teaching of student midwives, medical students and doctors in training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. David follows in the footsteps his father, Dr Gerard Garltan, a renowned doctor.
