Vale Peter Sharp

Upon leaving the St Virgil’s in 1957, Peter secured a position with 7HO as a sports broadcaster.  He moved to Channel 6 and in 1969 became its sports editor. In the early 70s he moved to Melbourne where he became the face of sport on ATVO, later to become Channel 10.

 

He returned to Tasmania where he and long-time fiend Peter Hudson built the Tanadara Hotel in Triabunna. Peter managed the establishment for its first three years.  After this he returned to Hobart and recommenced his association with Win Television. 

 

In 2014 Peter was the 237th inductee into Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.

The name of Peter Sharp is synonymous with the broadcasting of football in southern Tasmania in the 1970s though to the 1990s.
