Mark Waddington

In its recent publication, the St Patrick’s Old Collegians (Ballarat) revealed the identities of the four men to be honoured with prestigious awards at their Annual Celebration Dinner later this year. One of these is Mark Waddington who has been the Director of Development at St Virgil’s since 2012.   Previous to this he was Director of Community Development at St Patrick’s College for ten years.  St Patrick's is a fellow Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) school and prior to the opening of St Virgil's in 1911 it was the educational home of esteemed foundation Old Virgilians Leo Doyle and Albert Ogilivie.

Mark will be honoured with the Facere et Docere (To Do and To Teach Award), the motto of the Christian Brothers.

Mark will receive his award at the St Patrick’s Old Collegians Annual Dinner on August 7.

The Publication contained the following tribute:

Former Director of Boarding and Director of Community Development Mr Mark Waddington will be honoured with the staff award in recognition of his incredible achievements at the College between 2002 and 2011. In that time Mark helped rebuild the boarding community after it teetered on the brink of closure, co-founded with Headmaster Dr Peter Casey, the College's acclaimed Indigenous Education Programme, oversaw major capital fundraising programs for projects such as the OCA Pavilion and the Jo Walter Field, managed the re-introduction of scholarship and bequest programmes at the College and helped drive enrolment numbers to record levels. Mark was also instrumental in the rejuvenation of the College’s vaunted football program and ushered in a bright new era for the Old Collegians Association with a renewed focus on engagement and joy.
