Kevin Young
(SVC 1973-77)
Kevin has enjoyed a diverse ad successful life in the north of the state!
- Commenced as a Technical Forester with Forestry Tas (1978) for six years working in Smithton, Geeveston, Wynyard, Devonport, Hobart, Scottsdale and Burnie.
- Worked with North Forest Products as a Planning Forester & Senior Plantation Forester in Burnie for nine years.
- Married in 1985 and has a son Mathew and daughter Nicole.
- Started a Bookshop 1993 Angus & Robertson changing to Not Just Books in 2011 and sold in 2019.
- Completed an MBA through UTas (1995-98).
- Inducted into the Burnie Retail Hall of Fame 2019
- 12 years of service to Catholic Education; six years each as Board Chair of St Brigid’s Primary School Wynyard and Marist Regional College Burnie
- 20 years of service to the Books Industry on advisory groups to both Angus & Robertson and the Leading Edge Book Group
- 15 years on the board of Burnie Citylink the cities promotional body
- Seven years as a director of the Tasmanian Institute of Sport
- Extensive involvement in AFL:
- Played with Smithton, Kermandie, Wynyard, Devonport, OVA, Bridport, Scottsdale & Somers
- Coached Junior at Wynayrd & Marist College for 12 years
- Four years as Treasurer at the Wynyard Football Club
- Played AFL Masters for Tasmania for 15 years, three years as Coach and three years on State Committee
- Recognised as a Life Member of AFL Masters Tasmania in 2015
- Athletics - a member of OVA and then NW Athletic clubs; Multiple Tasmanian Representative and won 22 Medals at senior state championships
- Worked as CEO of Burnie Sports & Events from 2013-14.
