Associate Professor Andrew Freeman 

(SVC 1973-78)

The Freeman Family came from Canada and Andrew attended the College from 1973-78.  In his final year he was elected Head Prefect by his peers and as a Year 10 student had been Secretary of the Student Representative Council.   He participated in soccer, rowing and basketball, was editor of the school paper, the Nuntius, and had an involvement in drama, debating and YCS (Young Christian Students).

 

Upon leaving school, Andrew studied at the University of Queensland (1980-84) where he gained a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Hons.)  He was to complete further studies at the Western University (Ontario, Canada).  He gained a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2001 and gained a Doctorate in Rehabilitation Science in 2007.

 

After his initial degree Andrew worked as an Occupational Therapist at the Royal Children Hospital in Melbourne for almost three years before deciding to return to Canada, where he worked in the Yukon in the far northwest form 1989-99.

 

Following his further studies at the Western University in Ontario, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Universite’ Laval (Quebec) in the Department of Rehabilitation as part of the Faculty of Medicine where he is involved in both teaching and research.

 

At the beginning of 2021 Andrew was appointed Programme Coordinator Practice Development for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
