Jarrod Nation (SVC 1988-1993), the Pinpint Group and Managing Director of Salters and Arron  Brazendale (SVC1998-2001, restauranteur and President of the North Hobart Traders’ Association, were featured in The Mercury, promoting the feasibility of the retaining the Taste of Tasmania after the announcement by the Hobart City Council of its withdrawal from the iconic event.

 

The Reusable Milk Keg!

 

Owner of Zimmah Coffee Dane Knezevic (SVC 1989-94) (left) was involved in the promotion of a new Tasmanian invention aimed at revolutionising recycling in cafes across Australia. It is anticipated that the reusable milk keg will save the average cafe from using close to 10,000 milk bottles each year.  

 

Crime Stopper!

Seen on Southern Cross TV News  promoting Crime Stoppers Week 2021 was Old Virgilian, Detective Sergeant Matthew Adams (SVC 1987-92). Matthew was encouraging Tasmanians to anonymously report information about illegal drugs entering Tasmania through air and sea gateways – an emphasis in this year’s Crime Stoppers Week.

 

Supporting Hobart City Mission 

Shannon Wells (SVC 1994-97), Managing Director of Par Avion was pictured by Richard Jupe in the local press with Hobart City Mission CEO  John Stubley. The accompanying article by Annie McCann acknowledged the gift of South West Wilderness flights by Par Avion for the Hobart City Mission auction to raise money for is necessary involvements. 

 

To quote Shannon in the article – “ The Tasmanian people have really supported Par Avion over the past 12 months to keep my staff employed.  I’ve been very touched when I hear stories about people living rough and it is getting worse. It’s a very small thing I can do to help.”
