Fantastic French

Bonjour!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Do you know the name of the famous French location in the photo above?

It is Notre Dame, a famous église (church) or cathédrale ( a cathedral is a big church)

Did you know...

  • It was founded by Louis VII.
  • It is a triumph of Gothic architecture.
  • An English king was crowned here.
  • The largest bell is named Emmanuel.
  • It was dedicated to the Cult of Reason.
  • Napoleon was crowned Emperor here.
  • Victor Hugo wrote a novel to save it from demolition.
  • The centre of Paris is marked here.
  • The 2019 fire brought down the spire and the consolidation phase—between 2019 and 2021—cost 165 million euros (US$197 million).

IN THE CLASSROOM :

-Foundation students are enjoying practising the song "Bonjour Mes Amis".

They are focusing on numbers and asking each other how old they are.

"Quel âge as tu?"

"J'ai cinq ans."

-Grade 1-2 are finishing off writing the lyrics and the meaning of the funny song by Alain Le Lait : "Ma famille",  learning all the actions to the words and getting ready to record themselves on SeeSaw as they sing the song.

-Grade 3-6 completed tests on vocabulary related to location and land marks in town and on the way to school. They were encouraged to learn location vocabulary to demonstrate accurate spelling in French, including all those tricky accents too!

We aim to use  LANGUAGENUT in the final weeks of the term for grade 3-6.

Each student will have a personal username and password to log in and they will be encouraged to use the app to learn and consolidate French vocabulary on various topics.

Please remember your headphones/earphones are an important tool to have when you are learning French, so don't leave them at home!

Au revoir!
