Integrated - First Contact

It is important for students to understand the history of the Australian community as it enables an empathy and appreciation of the traditions and experiences of different cultures.

Below is a task that enabled students to comprehend the history and scale of our Australian history.

Literacy - 6+1 Traits and Information Reports

This term the students have been working towards improving a first draft (cold write) of an information report written early in the term in preparation for an upcoming final draft  (hot write). Students have been working on many different facets of their writing according to the 6+1 Writing Traits including, adding Voice, Organisation, Ideas, Conventions, Excellent Words and Sentence fluency to their piece (VOICES).

Below is a task that required students to break down the features of an information report in order to apply their understandings in their own writing. 

Mathematics - Addition and Subtraction Strategies 

In the last couple of weeks we have been working on refining our mental and written strategies when approaching addition and subtraction problems. 

Below are a few of the mental methods that have been demonstrated to the students and their understandings of that work as well.
