LEAP

On Friday 20th March, select Grade 5 & 6 students were invited to participate in a VHAP Masterclass at North Ringwood Primary School alongside students from Heathmont East Primary School. Masterclasses provide a fantastic opportunity to VHAP participants to extend and celebrate their learning covered in the VHAP course and to foster collaboration between high-ability students from different schools in an engaging and interactive manner.
Upon arrival, the students from the three networking schools split off into Literacy and Numeracy groups to begin the workshop.
The Literacy Masterclass content covered "The Power of Funny" which revised and built on content covered in the 10-week VHAP course. Students collaboratively explored the purpose of comedy and proceeded to compose a creative writing piece together in small groups. It was wonderful to see our students engaging with formulating ideas with the students from the two other schools.
The Numeracy Masterclass saw some opportunities for code breaking activites which progressed to creating their own coded messages. Students were extremely creative and it was wonderful to see all the conversations and collaboration of ideas between the groups.
The session concluded with some sharing and reflection after students enjoyed exploring the grounds of North Ringwood PS and having their lunchbreak with the students from our two neighbouring schools!
Harmony Day
On Friday our community came together to celebrate Harmony Day! The theme for Harmony Day this year was - Culture Connects Us All!
Throughout Harmony Day, schools celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians from many countries around the world. At Great Ryrie Primary School we celebrated through dance, wore cultural clothing and connected through stories and craft activities realted to our cultures.
