Digital Technologies

Digital Technologies
Students have continued to build their knowledge and skills in Digital Technologies during the second half of Term 1, with a strong focus on creating, communicating and staying safe online. Across all year levels, learning has aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, particularly in developing students’ ability to use digital systems to represent ideas and to apply safe and responsible practices when using technology.
Prep
Our Prep students have been enthusiastically exploring a range of creative apps from Duck Duck Moose apps. These tools allow students to communicate information in different ways, including through posters and simple animated clips using moving stickers. Students have been learning how to navigate the apps, use different features, and record their voices to share ideas. They are now applying these skills to create a multimedia “All About Me” poster, combining images, movement and audio to communicate personal information in a purposeful and engaging way.
Grades 1 & 2
Students in Years 1 and 2 have been using Pages to design digital posters that demonstrate their understanding of how to use technology safely and responsibly. As part of their learning, students have explored key eSafety concepts such as protecting personal information, using kind and respectful communication, and making safe choices online. They have been developing their ability to create and organise content using text and images, while also considering how to clearly communicate messages to an audience.
Grades 3-6
In Years 3–6, students have been extending their skills using Keynote to create informative videos focused on internet safety. These projects have required students to plan, design and produce digital solutions that communicate specific information to others. Students have been encouraged to think about audience, structure and clarity, while also applying their understanding of safe online behaviours. These videos will be shared with others as a way of educating and promoting positive digital citizenship within our school community.
It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence as digital creators, while also developing the knowledge and skills needed to be safe, responsible and informed users of technology.
