Year 9 French café excursion

Emily Alter, Year 9

On 31March, our French class went on an excursion to Noisette, a French cafe in Bentleigh.

At the cafe, we had the chance to try delicious new treats, including Orangina (a drink), Croque monsieur, croissants, and a variety of pastries. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore French food and culture and step into a little slice of France right here in Melbourne.

Merci to our French teachers Madame Dickens and Madame Neale for organising this wonderful experience — we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity!

Years 10 to 12 French Film Festival excursion

Mme Dickens, Head of Languages

Last week, 40 enthusiastic students from our Years 10, 11 and 12 French classes embarked on a cultural excursion to the Alliance Française French Film Festival

The highlight of the day was a screening of Monsieur Aznavour, a captivating biopic about the legendary French singer Charles Aznavour. Before the film, students immersed themselves in a taste of French culture with a visit to Laurent, a French café on Collins Street.

The film itself offered an inspiring insight into Aznavour’s life, his music and his enduring influence on French culture. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with authentic French storytelling, deepening their appreciation for the language and its rich artistic heritage.

A big thank you to Mr Troitzky for organising this outing — we can’t wait for next year’s festival!
