Discovering Future Pathways at Our Subject Selection Showcase

We were delighted to welcome students and families to our 2027 Subject Selection Showcase on Wednesday 29 July from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, an important evening designed to support students as they plan the next stage of their learning journey.

Throughout the evening, our dedicated staff shared valuable insights into the breadth of subject choices and pathways available, helping students make informed decisions that align with their interests, strengths and future aspirations.

Thank you to our staff for generously sharing their expertise and guidance, and to our families for taking the time to attend and support your child as they explore the many opportunities ahead.

Together, we are empowering our students to make confident choices as they prepare for an exciting future.

Secondary Assembly Celebrates Achievement and Milestones

On Wednesday, the Secondary School gathered for its first assembly of Term 3, providing an opportunity to celebrate student achievement, recognise important milestones, and reflect on the many enriching experiences taking place across our school community.

The assembly commenced with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Jasmin Costin on piano. Students were then treated to a wonderful performance of The Winner Takes It All by ABBA, presented by Neave, Gonzalo and Shriya, showcasing the exceptional musical talent within our Secondary School.

We were also delighted to hear from students who participated in the Fiji Service Trip last term. Their reflections highlighted the meaningful connections they formed, the challenges they embraced, and the valuable lessons they learned through serving others and immersing themselves in a different culture.

A highlight of the assembly was the acknowledgement that our Year 12 students had officially reached 100 days until the completion of their formal schooling. This significant milestone highlighted just how close the cohort is to the culmination of their secondary education and provided an opportunity to celebrate their hard work, growth and perseverance throughout their school journey. To mark the occasion, Year 12 students wore outfits representing careers they aspire to pursue after graduation, or the careers they once dreamed of having when they were younger. Many also proudly wore their primary school jerseys or shirts. These garments represent much more than the schools from which they came; they serve as a reminder of each student's unique educational journey and the experiences that have shaped them along the way.

Our Community Spirit Captain, Jordan Dalziel, also shared an update on this year's World's Greatest Shave campaign. The school community raised over $16,000, surpassing the fundraising goal of $15,000. This outstanding achievement reflects the generosity, compassion and commitment of our students, staff and families. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed to making the campaign such a success.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Jinaya Nurse, Jordan Dalziel and Andrew Barber for confidently leading the assembly. Their enthusiasm ensured the event ran smoothly while celebrating the many achievements and experiences of our school community.

Assemblies such as these are an important part of school life, providing an opportunity to celebrate excellence, showcase student talent, strengthen community connections, and recognise the achievements and experiences that make our school such a vibrant place to learn and grow. Thank you to all students and staff who contributed to this week's assembly.

A Day of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Innovation

Twenty five students from Years 8 to 10 recently represented Moama Anglican Grammar at the Newcastle University National STEM Competition, taking on an exciting range of hands-on engineering and science challenges. From bridge building, wind turbines and flight design to EcoHabitech huts, light communications, fish traps, robotic claws and electricity grid connections, every activity tested students' creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills.

Competing against schools from across Central Victoria, students impressed with their communication, resilience and ability to think outside the box, finishing with a fantastic fifth place overall. Most importantly, everyone had a great time tackling real-world STEM challenges and is already looking forward to returning and competing again next year.

Year 9/10 Music Rocks the Stage for Year 3

Our Year 9/10 Music students recently transformed the music room into a vibrant concert venue, delivering an energetic and entertaining live performance for our enthusiastic Year 3 audience as the culmination of their unit of study, The Stage.

The concert was planned, organised and produced by the students, who embraced every aspect of staging a live event. Beyond performing, students had input into designing tickets, costumes and staging, welcoming guests as front of house staff and keeping the audience engaged as MCs. The result was a highly entertaining show that showcased not only their musical talents but also the many skills involved in presenting a live performance.

Adding to the excitement, students fully embraced their 'rock star' personas, taking to the stage with costumes, theatrical antics and plenty of personality. The song choices were diverse, from Michael Jackson to Nirvana to video game music and acoustic songs.

Throughout the concert, Year 3 students tested their musical knowledge with a series of fun rock music trivia questions. To a supportive and cheering crowd, the Best Dancer award went to Ms Delmenico, who won some fashionable disco-themed sunglasses.

To finish the concert in true rock concert fashion, the Year 9/10 performers covered the audience in a flurry of bubbles and had the Year 3 students laughing, cheering and reaching for the floating bubbles as the concert came to an end.

The concert was a fantastic example of authentic, project-based learning, allowing students to experience the many roles involved in live performance while developing teamwork, creativity, organisation and confidence. 

Year 9 and 10 Accelerated Science: Investigating Antacids

Year 9 and 10 Accelerated Science students investigated how different antacids neutralise stomach acid by measuring their effectiveness in a hands-on chemistry practical. They collected and analysed data to compare the performance of various antacid tablets while developing their experimental and scientific inquiry skills. The experiment helped students connect chemistry concepts to real-world applications in medicine and everyday health.

Year 12 Students Explore Future Pathways

Last Thursday, 23 July, our Year 12 students attended the annual Loddon Tertiary Information Session alongside students from schools across the region. Held at St Joseph’s College, the event brought together representatives from Victorian universities, TAFE institutes and independent tertiary colleges to provide valuable insights into post- school pathways.

Students had the opportunity to gather information about courses, campuses and pathways to further education while hearing directly from representatives of a range of tertiary institutions and training providers. The session included a presentation focused on transitioning to tertiary study after high school, followed by opportunities for students to speak with tertiary representatives and clarify entry requirements, course options and career pathways.

The session was an excellent opportunity for students to explore their options, gain important information and make informed decisions as they prepare for life beyond school.

Year 11 Biology Explores the Organisation of Living Things

Year 11 Preliminary HSC Biology students recently completed a rat dissection as part of their study of Organisation of Living Things. Through this practical investigation, students examined the structural organisation of body systems and explored the relationship between specialised tissues, organs and organ systems. 

The activity provided an authentic opportunity to develop practical investigation skills while reinforcing their understanding of how the coordinated functioning of body systems maintains the survival of multicellular organisms.

Australian Sheep & Wool Show Success

On Friday 17 July, our Years 9, 11 and 12 students of Agriculture and Primary Industries attended the Australian Sheep & Wool Show in Bendigo, where they explored the many facets of Australia's sheep and wool industry.

Students participated in the Dohne Marquee Education Program, taking part in workshops, sheep and fleece judging activities, and hearing from industry leaders. They also enjoyed sheep judging and shearing demonstrations, career exhibits, technology displays and industry workshops, gaining valuable insights into the diverse opportunities available within the agricultural sector. At the Dohne Marquee, students also enjoyed presentations from Australian Wool Innovation, Heiniger and Meat & Livestock Australia. Around the showgrounds, students watched sheepdog trials, cooking demonstrations, a Young Voices of the Land forum and much, much more.

A highlight of the day was seeing many of our students perform exceptionally well in the fleece and meat sheep judging competitions conducted by the Australian Dohne Breeders' Association, with several students earning ribbons for their efforts for the following:

Seeking Camping, Hiking & Fishing Gear Donations

Do you have camping, hiking, or fishing gear gathering dust in the shed or garage? Our Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) and Out and About classes are looking to add to our gear collection to support our learning experiences, and we'd love your help!

We are on the lookout for:

• Tents - Especially hiking/backpacking tents and 2–3 person tents.
• Fishing rods and tackle - Rods, reels, and general fishing equipment.
• Hiking gear - Backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, hiking poles, headlamps, and similar.
• General camping equipment - Cooking gear, tarps, and anything else that might be useful.

Items don't need to be brand new, we are just after gear that's still in safe, usable condition that your family no longer needs. This donated gear directly assists our growing camps and classes, helping us give more students access to real outdoor adventures.
