Year 9 RAID Program

Year 9 RAID – Off to a great start!

Our Year 9 students have had a great start to the 2026 RAID program, with two engaging and action-packed days designed to build confidence, teamwork, independence and school pride.

Across the first two RAID days, students immersed themselves in a wide range of experiences. The African Drumming workshop had students working collaboratively to learn rhythm patterns and perform as a group, building confidence and teamwork while demonstrating Respect and Innovation. Our visit to Gisborne Golf Course encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills and support one another in a different learning environment.

Back at school, the ever-popular Minute to Win It games required quick thinking, communication and persistence — and of course brought plenty of laughter. Students also participated in a City Prep session, where they learned how to confidently use the Public Transport Journey Planner in preparation for upcoming Melbourne city excursions. Developing these real-world skills is a key part of the RAID program and helps foster independence.

Students then put their teamwork and time-management skills into action during a scavenger hunt in town, representing the College positively within the local community. A highlight on our first RAID Day was the dynamic and engaging Fizzics Education Science Show, where students experienced exciting demonstrations that sparked curiosity and showcased science in action.

Looking ahead, our next RAID session will see students completing their Morrisby Profiling, participating in a Money Mentors financial literacy session, and enjoying a visit from Wild Action Zoo, where they will explore wildlife and conservation in an interactive setting.

Important Reminders for Parents and Carers:

  • Students are expected to be in full school uniform on all RAID days.
  • Please remind students of the expected behaviours that they should display at school and in the community.
  • Please ensure your child has organised their Youth Myki Travel Card in preparation for our first City RAID Day on 18th March.
