Inter-School Clay Target

Our squad had a fabulous day out at the Sale Field and Game club alongside 150 other competitors from schools right across east, west and south Gippsland regions. With a couple of first timers amongst the group, it was great to watch the students support each other with the more experienced competitors sharing their invaluable knowledge. With a total of 20 targets hoping to be struck throughout the event, we completed the competition with a best score of 16, just shy of the placings.

Well done, Jack, Ned, Connor, Chris and Nicholas on your very positive and responsible attitude on the day, Mrs Norling and I were most impressed.

Gippsland Senior Girls and Boys Badminton

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Team, comprising of Juliette, Isabel, Logan and Ashley who came runners-up in our region with a couple of narrow wins out of three. In a very cold Morwell Leisure Centre, both teams had a fabulous day of competition against very social but competitive students from a range of Gippsland’s schools. Commiserations to the boys' team who had a couple of last-minute absences that curtailed their chance to progress through. With the help of the girls' team, the boys were able to play all the allocated games and have an enjoyable day of sport.

Gippsland Senior Table Tennis

What a fantastic result to reward a great team, Gippsland winners. Now they are off to the State Championships in Albert Park on the Wednesday 13th August. Practice and persistence have paid dividends to this group over the last couple of years, now it is time for Zaylen, Ashley, Mitchell and Kaden to really test themselves against the best in the state. All of us here at BSC are wishing you all the best for the next big competition, well done.

Gippsland Year 7 Girls Badminton

It was great to see the Year 7 girls step up and test themselves against the region’s qualifiers last Friday at the Morwell Leisure Centre. Playing three rounds including singles and double match’s, Penny, Maecey, Kristella and Zona played improved as the day progressed, most likely due to them warming up in such cold conditions. Building resilience and respect, it is obvious we are lucky to have such quality students. Keep building on this year’s efforts and you will find success throughout your time here at Bairnsdale Secondary College.

East Gippsland Senior Hockey

Wild, wet and windy conditions lashed the Senior Hockey match on Wednesday 18th June at the WORLD Hockey complex. Coached by a couple of former and current hockey legends, our team dominated the games against Nagle to progress to Gippsland level on the Tuesday 29th July. We are privileged at the college to have such a strong hockey playing cohort that sees us have so much success over the years. We wish them all the best in the upcoming competition.

East Gippsland Senior Girls and Boys Basketball

A mixed day at the Basketball with our Senior Girls progressing straight through to regional level due to a forfeit. Good luck at regionals on the Thursday 14th August in Traralgon. As for the Senior Boys Team, it was a case of missed it by that much. 2 winning games out of 3, with the losing game going by 9 points, the boys showed real class in defeat. Thanks to all who competed on the day and throughout Term 2. Have a great break this holiday and come back to school fitter and happier than ever before.
