Principal's Message

Hello to our College Community.

What a term it’s been! With just one week to go, we’re almost at the finish line before a well-earned two-week break for our students and staff to reset, recharge, and get ready to jump into Term 3.

Term 2 has been action-packed from start to finish. The last few weeks, in particular, have been filled with exciting, educational, enriching, and fulfilling experiences—both in and out of the classroom. It’s been fantastic to see our students engaging in such a wide range of opportunities and making the most of every moment.

We’re incredibly proud of all the effort, energy, and enthusiasm that’s been on display across our College.

GAT 2025

Last week, all students enrolled in one or more VCE Unit 3 & 4 subjects—or scored VCE VET subjects—sat the General Achievement Test (GAT). The GAT is a state-wide pen-and-paper test that checks students' general knowledge and skills, and it plays an important role in making sure VCE results are fair and accurate. It also gives students a chance to show they’ve met the literacy and numeracy standards expected at this level.

We’d like to say a big congratulations to all our students who took part. It was a busy day, but we couldn’t be prouder of how everyone approached the test—with calm, confidence, and great attitudes all around.

A massive thank you as well to all the staff who helped support our students on the day. Whether you were helping with supervision, organising logistics, or offering encouragement—it made a big difference.

Great job, everyone!

Formal

Last Friday night, I had the privilege of attending our Year 11 Formal—and what a night it was!

After weeks of dance practice, 106 students confidently took to the floor to perform three beautifully coordinated dances in front of more than 330 guests. They then enjoyed a special dance with their chosen partner, creating a memorable moment for all involved.

Guests were treated to a delicious supper and had the chance to connect with staff, students, and members of our wider community. The atmosphere was joyful, inclusive, and full of celebration.

It truly was a fantastic evening and a wonderful reflection of our College community spirit.

GELLEN Expo

On Wednesday 18th June, 200 of our students headed to the Bairnsdale Squash and Table Tennis Centre to take part in the Careers Expo organised by GELLEN (Gippsland East Local Learning and Employment Network).

A huge congratulations to GELLEN for putting together such a successful and well-run event! The expo provided an excellent opportunity for our students to explore future career and education pathways, with a wide range of training providers and local businesses on hand to share their knowledge and advice.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to the businesses and organisations who took the time to be part of the day. Your commitment and willingness to engage with our students made a real impact—the conversations, insights, and inspiration you provided are truly invaluable.

Events like this play an important role in helping our students make informed decisions about their futures, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be involved.

Year 11 2026 Course Selection and Pathways Interviews

This week, our Year 10 students and their families took part in the Year 11 2026 Course Selection and Pathways Interviews. These important interviews provide a valuable opportunity for students and their families to explore future pathways in collaboration with our Senior Hub staff, helping to shape subject choices for Years 11 and 12 that align with each student’s goals and aspirations.

Thank you to all the families who attended and supported their students through these vital conversations. The level of engagement and attendance far exceeded our expectations and highlights the strong partnership between home and school in supporting student success.

We look forward to seeing these young people take confident steps toward their senior years and beyond!

Semester Reports

Next week, Semester Reports will be published and made available for students and families to review. These reports are an important tool for understanding how students are progressing academically. They not only help us celebrate achievements but also highlight areas where further support or focus may be needed.

We strongly encourage all families to take the time to read through their student’s report and reflect on the learning journey so far. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the relevant teacher—we’re here to support every student’s success.

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education and for the encouragement you provide to our staff along the way. Your partnership plays a vital role in helping our students thrive, and we truly value the strong sense of community we share.

Sincerely,
