Sparking Curiosity in Science

To celebrate the end of their final Science CAT for the term, students were rewarded for their hard work with a hands-on exploration of electrical circuits. With plenty of excitement and curiosity, they created alarms, flying saucers, and even attempted to tune into the radio. Their enthusiasm and effort were electrifying!

Colourful Chemistry in Action

In Science, Cooper demonstrated a chemical reaction using bromothymol blue. The class watched as the solution changed from blue to yellow in the presence of carbon dioxide. A fun and visual way to explore chemical indicators!

Hands-On with Lungs!

During a dissection lesson, Perri, Skylah, Cooper and Cale used a hand pump to inflate a pair of lungs and see how the respiratory system works in real time. Perri especially loved the experience, even requesting this picture be in our 2025 Kinaway!

Sweet Success in the Kitchen

Year 8 students have been busy in the Food Technology room this week creating classic Melting Moments from scratch. With teamwork and a pinch of fun, the results were as impressive as they were tasty!

Caught in the Octopus Zone

Laughter echoed across the courts and caught Amy's attention on Friday morning. Year 8 students dashed, dodged, and were tagged in a classic game of Octopus. The class was packed with energy, friendly competition, and lots of fun as everyone tried to avoid being caught!

Clay Creators Unleash Their Dragons

This term in Art, students rolled up their sleeves and brought mythical beasts to life! Using clay, they designed and sculpted their own dragons. Each one bold, detailed, and totally unique.

Make it Yours: 2026 Subject Selections

Planning for 2026: Subject Selections

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through Year 8! Over the last few weeks students have started thinking about their 2026 subject selections for Year 9. Each student has entered their chosen electives into EDVAL creating a form that then needs to be printed and signed by a parent or carer and returned to Amy at the Year 8 Hub.

All forms are due!

Please make sure students return their form on time so we can begin planning for next year!

There will be no option to change electives after this date.

Halfway there, Year 8

As Semester 1 comes to a close, it's the perfect time to celebrate just how much our Year 8 students have achieved in such a short time. From trying new subjects and developing stronger resilience and new skills at camp, to representing our College in sport, leadership, and co-curricular events. It has been a busy and rewarding first half of the year.

We’ve seen Year 8 students step up with enthusiasm, kindness, and confidence, building strong friendships and showing great pride in their learning, themselves and our College. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or around the school, we’re incredibly proud of their growth and effort.

As we head into the school holidays, we want to thank our students and families for their ongoing support and partnership. We wish you all a safe, relaxing and well-earned break and we can’t wait to see everyone back and ready for more in Term 3!
