Level 3

Literacy
In Literacy, students have been exploring poetry writing and experimenting with metaphors and similes to create vivid and imaginative pieces. We have learnt about different styles of poetry including diamanté poems, kennings and free verse. Students particularly enjoyed exploring mentor texts, reading works from different poets, and diving deeper into their thinking and wondering as readers and writers. It was wonderful to see students create thoughtful and heartfelt poems for their mums in celebration of Mother’s Day.
In Reading, students have been engaged in a two-week text study of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Through this rich text, we explored important themes such as right and wrong, caring for the environment, and the importance of community, teamwork, rules, laws and morals. Students participated in thoughtful discussions and made strong connections between the story and the world around them.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, students have been learning about angles and 3D shapes. They have explored identifying and describing different angles, as well as recognising and investigating the properties of a range of 3D objects through hands on activities and discussions.
Thank you to all families who joined us for our Mother’s Day Open Morning and supported our Mother’s Day Stall. It was a lovely celebration and students were so excited to share this special time with their families.
