As previously shared, HEPS has been allocated $494,842 to refurbish our Art room. The project has been recognised as a high-priority initiative from previous grant applications and will be delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA). This exciting upgrade will transform the Art room into a contemporary and inspiring learning space where students can continue to explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills.
At this stage, we are expecting the old main building to be removed during the next school holidays. If there are any changes to this timeline, I will keep the community informed.
We have also had three different playground companies visit HEPS to begin planning for new playground equipment in the area where the old main building currently stands. We are still in the very early stages of planning and while the old building remains in place, it is difficult to finalise designs or obtain accurate quotes. However, it is exciting to begin exploring possibilities for future play spaces for our students.
Next Thursday we will be having a small piece of playground equipment installed at the front of the school. We have been lucky to have been able to purchase a piece that has been loved over the past two years at Melbourne Zoo. Mr Corso and I visited the Zoo on Monday and saw many happy children playing on the equipment. This will begin the improvement works for the front of the school. As we imagine it will be highly popular when it arrives, we will be timetabling and heavily supervising.

Over the next few weeks we will have some staffing changes at HEPS. Emma Austin will be moving to Rangeview P.S on a 12 month temporary transfer. Emma will continue to work at HEPS 3 days per week until the end of the term, with two days per week at Rangeview. This ensures that our production preparations are moving forward as planned, with children enjoying learning their songs and dance moves.
Ruby Whitfield will be beginning family leave as of the 5th June. We wish her and husband all the best as they welcome their daughter to their family.
Jen Ross will also begin family leave at the end of term. Welcoming the second addition to their family, we wish Jen, her husband and daughter the very best.
We will be interviewing shortly for the vacated positions.

A reminder that HEPS will celebrate Education Week this Monday 18th May with an Open Night & Book Fair from 6:00–7:30 PM. All parents and members of our school community are warmly invited to attend. This year’s theme, ‘Showcase your school’, highlights the opportunity to celebrate and share the great learning and achievements happening across our school. We look forward to seeing you there.

A reminder that Thursday, 21st and Friday 22nd May are student-free days, and students are not required to attend school. TeamKids will be operating on both days.

Foundation enrolments are now open. All Victorian government primary schools follow a statewide Prep enrolment timeline, which outlines when and how to enrol your child.
Our enrolment information pack can be accessed via the link below.

Camp- Level 5 Camp- Sovereign Hill

Last week, our Level 5 students enjoyed a fantastic camp at Sovereign Hill, where they immersed themselves in the history of the gold rush and took part in a range of engaging, hands-on activities. We are incredibly proud of all the students for their excellent behaviour and the way they represented our school throughout the camp. A big thank you to all the staff who supported the students and a special thank you to Mrs Golsworthy for her outstanding organisation in making the camp such a success.

A big thank you to all the wonderful HEPS parents for supporting our Mother’s Day Stall! We are especially grateful to the Parent Association for their hard work organising all the gifts, which provided a fantastic range of gifts for the children to choose from.

Thank you to all the wonderful mothers and special friends who joined us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast. It was lovely to see so many of you there, sharing the morning and celebrating the strong sense of community at HEPS. We also appreciate those who took the time to join in the classroom activities. A big thank you to TeamKids for generously providing breakfast for all the mums. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Student Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) provides students with an important voice in helping improve engagement, wellbeing, and teaching at our school. Run annually by the Department of Education, it gathers student feedback on areas such as learning, relationships, resilience, bullying, and overall school experience. Students in Years 4–6 will complete the survey in May.
