Stage 1 Chinese LOTE
Stage 1 Chinese LOTE students have been exploring the topic of calendars in Chinese! Students are learning how to say, recognise and write the days of the week and months of the year in Chinese. They are also learning to say their own birthdays in Chinese and developing a better understanding of important days and celebrations in the Chinese culture.
To make learning fun and engaging, students have been using a range of hands-on resources, including mini whiteboards and playdough. Through these activities, students are developing their understanding of correct stroke order, character formation and the structure of Chinese characters. These hands-on experiences provide students with opportunities to practise their Chinese writing in creative and meaningful ways while building confidence in using Chinese.
Stage 3 Chinese LOTE
Stage 3 Chinese Language students explored the art of traditional Chinese calligraphy this term. They learnt about common calligraphy styles and practised using calligraphy brushes to trace and write traditional Chinese poems.
At the beginning of the year, students provided their Chinese names to their teacher. This term, they used calligraphy brushes to create personalised bookmarks featuring their Chinese names.
Students thoroughly enjoyed this calming and creative session, developing their appreciation of Chinese culture while practising their calligraphy skills. It was wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm shine through!
