Celebrations at Karoo PS

Hip, hip, hooray! A HUGE congratulations to our Foundation students who have reached 100 Days of School! On Wednesday the 28th of July our Foundation students and staff had a day of celebrating this exciting milestone.  The day was filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of excitement as students celebrated all they have learned and achieved in their first 100 days. From dressing up as 100 year olds or wearing creative 100 themed outfits to taking part in hands-on activities and games, everyone had a fantastic time. We are so proud of how much our youngest learners have grown and thank our teachers for their work to support our students to shine! 

Celebrating our School Community

Karoo Primary School is proud to celebrate one of our exceptional volunteers, Louis Czudar who was honoured with a Knox Community Victoria Day Award for 2026.

On Friday 24th July, at our Karoo PS Whole School Assembly, Louis was officially recognised for his outstanding service to the community. He was presented with a medal and certificate by Mr Max Williams, Liberal Candidate for Rowville and Mr Kim Wells, State Member for Rowville.

For the past 25 years, Louis has generously donated his time to support Karoo PS, through his company Rowville Locksmiths.  We are incredible grateful for his time and thank him immensely and he is a very worthy recipient of the Victoria Day Award for 2026.

Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement

At our school, we believe in continuously reviewing the practices implemented in our school.  We do this to identify what is going well and how we can improve to enhance the learning environment for our students.  Learning Walks and Talks (LWTs) are an important part of our commitment to continuous improvement. They provide an opportunity for leaders and staff to collect feedback and evidence from classrooms, helping us check how well our current improvement initiatives are being implemented and, most importantly, the impact they are having on student learning.  In a LWT, usually three students from every class, Foundation to Year 6, are asked the same questions.  Then together, school leaders and staff analyse the information gathered, celebrate what is working well, and identify key actions to ensure we continue to grow and improve.

As part of our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) focus on strengthening mathematics instruction, our most recent Learning Walk and Talk explored the implementation of Maths Mastery.  It was wonderful to hear our students confidently talking about their learning, and our Year 2 students who were interviewed were especially excited to be involved, proudly sharing their ideas to help make our school an even better place to learn!

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to take some time away and visit my family in Darwin, Northern Territory. Every day was filled with new adventures, as we explored the beautiful sights and natural wonders of the Top End.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the stunning Berry Springs, a crystal-clear waterhole where you can swim and gently float along the stream. Imagine my surprise when, just as I was swimming into the main swimming hole, I heard someone call out, "Is that you, Mrs Hoffmann?" To my amazement, it was Blair and Zac H. with their parents, Alysha and Kyle, who are a Karoo PS family and are currently travelling around Australia throughout 2026!

It was such a lovely and unexpected reunion. I enjoyed hearing all about their incredible adventures, and I'm happy to report they are having an amazing time exploring our beautiful country. Blair and Zac told me their favourite experiences have been cooling off with a jump and swim in the spectacular waterholes at the end of their walks. They also wanted me to pass on a big hello to everyone at Karoo Primary School!
