Prep Bags 2027 Design Competition

Our Foundation students recently participated in the Department of Education's Prep Bags 2027 Design Competition. Each student created a unique artwork depicting their favourite thing about their first year of school.

Families are invited to submit their child's artwork to the competition if they would like the opportunity for their Foundation student's design to be featured on the 2027 Prep Bag, which will be given to every child starting school in Victoria next year.

We encourage families to take a look and submit their child's artwork if they wish, which can be found posted on SeeSaw. We can't wait to see if one of our talented Karoo students is selected!

Performing Arts

Year 1 and Year 2 

Our Year 1 and 2 students have been exploring drama through the traditional First Nations story Tiddalick the Frog. After listening to and discussing the story, students created their own stick puppets to represent the characters. Working collaboratively in small groups, they allocated roles, rehearsed their performance, and presented the story to their class.

Throughout this learning experience, students developed a range of performing arts skills. They explored how to portray different characters using their voice, facial expressions and movement, worked together to solve problems and make decisions, and practised speaking clearly and confidently for an audience. Students also learnt the importance of teamwork by listening to others, taking turns, supporting their group members and rehearsing to improve their performance. This unit provided opportunities for students to build confidence, creativity and communication skills while bringing a well-loved story to life through drama.
