Confirmation – A Special Step in Faith

Over the coming weeks, many of our Year 6 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, an important and meaningful moment in their faith journey.

Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church, alongside Baptism and Eucharist. Through Confirmation, candidates are anointed with the Oil of Chrism and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, strengthening them to continue growing in faith and to live as disciples of Jesus.

Our students have been preparing through learning at school, family and parish formation, prayer, reflection and participation in Mass. They have explored the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, chosen a Confirmation saint who inspires them, and considered what it means to put their faith into action in their everyday lives.

While not every student or family in our community is preparing to receive the sacrament, we all have an important role in supporting and celebrating those who are. We invite our whole St Thomas community to keep our Confirmation candidates in their thoughts and prayers as they approach this special occasion.

May the Holy Spirit guide them, strengthen them and give them courage as they take this next step in their faith journey.

Come, Holy Spirit. Fill the hearts of our Confirmation candidates and guide them as they grow in faith.

School Photos

School Photos were a great success this week. Thank you to our wonderful learners and their teachers for navigating the rain and puddles to get to the photographers safely and still managing to look their very best.

Any students who were absent or missed their photo this week are scheduled to attend the make up session on Tuesday 11 August, along with a small number of remaining sibling photo bookings.

Silly Socks, Shoes & Fantastic Support!

What a colourful sight around St Thomas this week, with silly socks and shoes everywhere as we came together to support the Opening the Doors Foundation! We raised over FIVE HUNDRED dollars. 

Thank you to our families for getting behind this important fundraiser and to our students for joining in with such enthusiasm. From bright colours and crazy patterns to some very creative footwear, there was plenty of fun across the school.

Most importantly, the day gave us an opportunity to support the important work of the Opening the Doors Foundation, which helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families access Catholic education.

A simple, fun day with a meaningful purpose — thank you to our wonderful community for your generosity and support.
