FLUENCY READING
We have recently started daily fluency reading with a prep buddy. Our focus is to try and improve our ability to read simple words and short sentences accurately, smoothly and with natural expression. The Preps have enjoyed the competition of trying to read further each day to beat their daily fluency score.
RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
The Preps enjoyed meeting Ernie the Jack Russell. Kristen his owner taught the kids how to approach and stay safe around dogs and animals they do not know.
MINI COMMONWEALTH GAMES
To consolidate our learning in Inquiry about "countries of the world", the grade 1 /2's and Preps conducted their own mini games. We divided into 5 teams/countries and experienced a range of athletic and fun activities, including the egg and spoon race, sack race and parachute.
The Aussies came home with the Gold medals!!!
MEASUREMENT IN MATHS
This week we have been exploring measuring length and height with formal units. We have measured in cm using rulers and even used the trundle wheel to measure the length of the roundabout in metres. FYI It is 230m!!!
GHANA- BEAT MY DRUM
On Wednesday, the Preps loved meeting Uncle Jonas who taught the students about African culture, music, drums and dancing.
