Term 3 Events for Families
We have lots of events taking place this term that offer families the opportunity to come into our school and share in our learning, programs and fun. These events are always listed in the dates to remember section of the newsletter with additional details provided on the relevant newsletter pages. Some upcoming events that we would love to have families join us for are:
LCS Athletics (Prep-Year 6)- Wednesday August 12th from 10am (don't forget to wear your house colour of green or gold)
Book Week Parade& Morning Assembly - Friday August 28th at 9am
Art Expo (including poetry displays and student performances)- Thursday September 3rd at 2pm
Fathers Day Breakfast- Friday September 4th- from 8.30am
Wellbeing Afternoon
On Wednesday August 19th we are having a Wellbeing Afternoon for our students. We are still finalising activities, but the aim is to have a selection of activities that students can choose from to participate in. Students would be able to take part in two activities of their choosing and these may include sporting activities, games, art and craft and mindfulness sessions. As mentioned in my Xuno post earlier this week, if there are any family members with special talents or interests that they would be happy to share with our students, please let me know- we would love to have a wide range of activities and leaders to offer our students. This day is also our Twisty Potato Day (see the Office Matters page for ordering details).
Breakfast is Served
As many of you already know our school offers Breakfast Club each morning. Starting at 8.35am and running until 8.50am students are able to come along to the canteen and have something for breakfast. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we offer toast and toasted spaghetti jaffles and on other days cereal and fruit is available. From time to time we have a special breakfast, such as pancakes. There is always milk available to those students who would like a milk. Our wonderful Education Support Staff of Tracey, Tammy and Ali run this initiative with Tracey also taking on the job of ordering supplies from Foodbank- a huge thank you to these ladies for their setting up, food preparation and packing up each day.
Book Week Celebrations
Have you got your costume ready yet? Book Week is only a few weeks away and we are excited to be holding our annual dress up parade, special assembly and classroom activities on Friday August 28th. The theme for this year is Symphony of Stories. Students are invited to come along to school dressed as a book character. Families are invited to watch us parade in the BER and stay for assembly. This will begin at 9am.
Uniform
We have noticed that there is an increasing number of students coming along to school in jumpers/hoodies etc that are not school uniform. Whilst we totally understand that sometimes tops are wet or dirty and can not be worn and therefore an alternative must be found- we want this to be the exception, rather than the norm. Please do not purchase black or red hoodies/tops with logos and use these as school uniform - despite what your child might tell you. I am sure you can appreciate the issue we have when a couple of students come out of uniform regularly and then others begin to copy.
If families are experiencing financial hardship and/or difficulty accessing uniform, please come and see us at the office.
School Council News
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday August 18th at 7pm. This is a meeting over Webex and the meeting link will be sent to all council members with the agenda.
