Careers & Pathways

Welcome to the end of  Term 2 Careers update.

It has been a busy and productive term as we conclude our work with our Year 10, 11 and 12 students. It has been incredibly rewarding to witness students grow in confidence, explore their interests, and begin articulating their career aspirations as they plan for life beyond school.

This term also marked a significant milestone with Bemin’s first-ever Career Expo. It was wonderful to see students actively engaging with the wide range of universities, training providers, and industry representatives who visited the college. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and respectful interactions demonstrated by our students made the event a great success. We hope you enjoy the highlights captured below.

For our VCE VM Year 12 students, the Careers team has introduced the Road Safety Skill Set program. This short qualification provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of safe and responsible road use. Upon successful completion, students will be rewarded with the Toyota Driving Experience, where they will have the exciting opportunity to test drive a range of high-performance vehicles.

As our Year 10 students prepare to make important decisions about their Year 11 programs, the Careers team has been busy responding to questions about VCE subject prerequisites, VET pathways, and university entry requirements. Our students have a diverse range of interests and ambitions, and it has been inspiring to learn about their future career goals. We encourage students and families to continue asking questions and seeking advice, as understanding pathway options is a vital step in helping students take ownership of their future and make informed decisions about achieving their aspirations.

Careers Expo

Bemin Secondary College held its first Careers Expo on 28 May for Year 10–12 students. We were thrilled to welcome a diverse range of tertiary providers and pathway organisations to our college, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, explore resources, and gain firsthand insight into future study and career options.

The day was a great success, with students engaging enthusiastically with exhibitors and learning about the many pathways available to them beyond secondary school.

Congratulations to our raffle winners!

Yr 12 Latrobe University Excursion

On Tuesday, 21 April, Year 12 VCE students attended a campus tour of La Trobe University. This provided a valuable opportunity to explore the campus, learn about the university's course offerings, and gain important information about entry requirements for commencing study in 2027. It was a great day, and students thoroughly enjoyed the experience while gaining a deeper understanding of university life and the pathways available to them after secondary school.

Levi Curmi - Year 10 Trade Taster Program

Hi, I'm Levi. I've been interested in building and construction for as long as I can remember because of my family. Then I saw an opportunity, AGA. There I learnt how to do a lot of things in carpentry, plumbing, and soon I'm learning how to handle electrical circuits. I go only on Mondays. I have fun, hanging out with mates and get my white card at the same time. I looked forward to every Monday

Year 12 Road Safety Skill Set

Year 12 VM students are  participating in a Road Safety short course. See what one of the students had to say.

On Monday, the year 12 VCE VM students started a program called the road safety skill set. We had two trainers that gave us a detailed introduction of the program, what they expect from us and what we expect from the program. It was a very intriguing program because we get to learn about safety skills on the road, what we should be doing and shouldn't be doing on the road. The trainers make the program interesting by adding quizzes, videos that we watch and interacting with the class with questions related to what we are learning.
