Interschool Sport

Junior Campus (Everton) and Senior Campus (Morris)
Term 2 has been a busy, exciting and successful 10 weeks for sport at Bemin campus, with students demonstrating outstanding participation, skill development, team work and sportmanship across a variety of sports.
Our sports included netball, badminton, soccer, cross country and rugby. Students embraced these opportunities to challenge themselves both individually and as part of a team. Throughout the term, students continued to develop their game sense, fitness, communication skills, and resilience while representing the school.
Our netball stars improved their skills such as passing, foot work, and shooting, while our soccer players displayed excellent determination, skill development, and sportsmanship within their competitions.
We have had several teams make it to regional competition this term, with our intermediate girls soccer and futsal teams aswell as our year 7 boys badminton team, an amazing achievement for our students and coaches.
In badminton, students worked hard to refine their serving technique, isolated shots and rules of the game. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident throughout the tournament, culminating in an outstanding achievement for the school.
The Year 7 Boys Badminton Team performed exceptionally well and successfully qualified for the regional’s competition, a fantastic accomplishment that reflects their dedication, teamwork, and effort. We wish them the very best as they continue their journey at the next level of competition on June 25th.
It has been a busy and highly rewarding term for our senior interschool sports program, with students representing Bemin across multiple venues, divisions and disciplines. Regardless of the results, our teams have consistently demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and commitment, representing Bemin with pride.
Senior Girls Netball
Our Senior Girls Netball team showcased outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship and dedication. They should be incredibly proud of the way they carried themselves throughout the entire competition.
The tournament started on a high note with a dominant and convincing win over Tarneit Senior. Key highlights from the match included Heidi’s spectacular long-range shooting, Ana and Shyvonne’s dynamic defensive pressure, and Jacinta’s exceptional leadership as captain, displaying great versatility across multiple court positions.
Their next match against The Grange proved to be a much tougher battle. However, the girls showed immense grit and resilience, fighting hard until the final whistle and only narrowly missing out by a few goals.
Overall, the team did an absolutely fantastic job. The way they supported one another and upheld our school values was a joy to watch. They represented Bemin exceptionally well, and the entire school community congratulates them on a brilliant campaign!

Senior Boys Netball
Our Senior Boys Netball team should be incredibly proud of their performance and the way they represented the school throughout the competition.
The boys played exceptionally well, showing determination, teamwork and resilience across all matches. They opened the day with a hard-fought game against The Grange, finishing with an impressive 17–17 draw in a thrilling contest.
The team then carried that momentum into their next match and delivered a dominant performance against Tarneit Senior, securing a convincing win.
Unfortunately, despite their outstanding efforts, the team narrowly missed progressing to the next round by just 1 percentage point — a heartbreaking result after such a strong showing.
While the outcome wasn’t quite enough to move through, the students should be extremely proud of what they achieved. Their sportsmanship, commitment and positive attitude made for an excellent day and reflected the school values brilliantly.
Well done, Senior Boys Netball team!
Intermediate Boys Netball
Our Intermediate Boys Netball team (Year 10) should be incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements at the recent competition. Throughout the day, the students played exceptionally well, demonstrating great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship in every match.
The team had an outstanding performance in the pool rounds, finishing top of their pool and earning a well-deserved place in the finals series.
In the semi-final, the boys came up against a very strong team and fought hard right until the final whistle. Although they were defeated in the semi-final, it was by the team that went on to win the entire competition — highlighting just how competitive and successful our boys were throughout the day.
Congratulations to all students involved on a fantastic effort and for representing the school so positively. Well done, boys!

Senior Boys and Girls Badminton
The Senior Boys and Girls badminton team (Year 11/12s) competed against two schools on the day of the interschool sports competition at Eagle stadium early in term 2.
The senior girls team versed strong opponents for singles and doubles game against Good News Lutheran, falling short in the match-up. They however bounced back and performed better against Tarneit Senior and won the majority of the 6 total games played. They however fell short as Good News won both their draws, making it into the regional finals. The girls showed tremendous effort and perseverance to compete and displayed great teamwork throughout the day. They should be proud of their performance!
The senior boys team started the day with a bye, in which they observed and came up with a strategic game plan to execute, playing on their strengths and opponents weaknesses from the first set of games. The boys performed and dominated both the singles and doubles games against both Good News and Tarneit Senior. The boys continued with their consistent game play and came out on top of the competition, which earned them a spot to compete against other winning schools for the regional finals. Shoutout to our stand out players Jasper and Viren who displayed great sportsmanship and leadership by coaching, supporting and encouraging their teammates during their matches. The boys are set to compete early term 3 and will be looking forward to a more fierce and competitive set of matches.
Congratulations again to our seniors team, especially to our boys team who will be representing the college in the regional finals in Altona late in July.

Senior Boys AFL
In the words of legendary AFL coach John Kennedy “Don’t think, Do”..actually that has nothing to do with the Bemin Senior Boys AFL team at all. The term ‘Football’ had very different meanings to a large group of our players. For some members of the team, their first touch of the oval shaped Sherrin Ball came the morning of the game, new positions such as ‘Forward Pocket and Back Pocket’ were first heard of and new boots were purchased the night before the match.
The Bemin Senior AFL team brought serious passion, spirit and effort to the day at Wotten Road Reserve and it was a true credit to the way they showed up with intent to compete. Some highlights included Jabriel Dibb’s goalkicking, Zakir’s tackling, Nahom’s speed on the wing, Riley’s gut running in the midfield, Achiek dominating on the ground and in the air, and the year 11’s Aditya and Elijiah showing us how we have a bright future for next years team.
The draw to Grange coming back from 3 goals down was an incredible effort from the boys and Coach Tyson and Coach Skinner could not have been prouder of the group with how they carried themselves and competed all day!

Intermediate Boys AFL
The weather gods blessed us with a perfect day for a kick and the boys were ready for a big day of Aussie Rules against fierce rival schools from the Western Region Area. With Carly Rae Jepson “Call me Maybe” and Katy Perry “Hot n Cold” pumping in the bus before the game, I knew the Intermediate Boys AFL Team was here to play. Names such as Jacko Isidro, Corey Fergurson, Jordan Jones and Aaryan Khullar could one day be named in an AFL midfield so we certainly had the talent to be a dangerous team.
The boys showed plenty of character and sportsmanship, they competed and ran hard for three consecutive games and did the Bemin name proud. It was fantastic to see new Aussie Rules converts such as Hiku Sadlier and Alex Siologa looks so comfortable playing the game for the first time. Unfortunately, the results did not go our way for the day even with Hiyab Yohannes thrown into the ruck for the last game to shake things up.
Thanks to Matt Hardinge for the help on the day and it was fantastic to keep giving our Bemin students to represent the school and do us all proud Win, Lose or Draw.

Senior Boys Soccer- Winners of Tarneit Divison, onto Western Regionals.
Well done to our Senior Soccer Boys who managed to win and take out the Tareneit Division soccer tournament. The boys were able to be undefeated, and went on to keep a clean sheet for the entirety of the tournament - meaning that no a single goal was conceded against them. Lots of preparation underway, as the Bemin Secondary Boys are now chasing after the Regional Tournament, where all the winners of the western divisions will be meeting to go head to head for that spot in the states! Preparations are underway for 30th July.
Well done to the boys and good luck for the Western Regionals!

Intermediate Boys and Girls Badminton
Our Intermediate Boys and Girls badminton team (Year 10) displayed tremendous effort and hard work at the recent interschool badminton competition held at eagle stadium. Throughout the day, each student displayed great sportsmanship and skill set, demonstrating teamwork, determination and enjoyment throughout the games in their pool
After the pool games, the boys team finished 3rd and the girls team finished second in their group, unfortunately just missing out on the grand finals to compete for the regional finals.
Overall it was a fun day for all, with lots of laughter and shared food and encouragement from teammates.

Intermediate Boys and Girls Soccer
The Year 9 and 10 Soccer teams also put together strong performances at the Interschool Sports competition. Competing against talented opposition, the teams played with determination and resilience, with the Year 10s narrowly missing out on progression to the next stage by a single position.
Students displayed excellent teamwork, communication, and perseverance throughout the tournament, consistently demonstrating Bemin's values both on and off the pitch.

Tri-Tag Rugby
Our Tri-Tag Rugby team put in an outstanding performance, representing Bemin Secondary College with enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Khyarn, a state representative player, brought valuable experience to the team and entertained everyone with his impressive footwork and sidestepping. Hiku also led from the front, encouraging and supporting the younger players throughout the competition.
The entire team deserves recognition for their efforts, with many students competing against opponents two or three year levels above them. A special mention goes to our Year 7 students, Ariki and Jireh, who showed great courage and determination while taking on Year 10 opponents.
The day concluded with a social Bemin versus Bemin match, which quickly grew into a mixed game as students from two other schools joined in. It was a fantastic way to finish the event and highlighted the enjoyment, inclusiveness and positive spirit our students displayed throughout the day.
NRL 9 a side
The NRL 9-a-Side Gala Day was one of the biggest sporting excursions Bemin Secondary College has taken part in, with approximately 60 students representing the school across four teams.
Every student demonstrated outstanding effort, determination and teamwork throughout the day, giving their all in every match. There were many memorable moments, including Elijah stepping up to play two age groups above his own and making a huge tackle on one of the biggest players in the Under 16 competition. Savali showed excellent leadership by supporting and coaching the Under 14 Girls throughout the day, while newcomers to the game, including Aryan, celebrated exciting milestones, with Aryan scoring his first ever rugby league try.
The day showcased not only the growing strength of rugby at Bemin Secondary College but also the willingness of students to challenge themselves, support one another and represent the school with pride. Congratulations to all students involved on an outstanding day of competition and teamwork.
Under 18 Boys State Finals
A highlight of the interschool sports term was the outstanding performance of our U18 Boys Rugby League 9-a-Side team at the State Finals.
After qualifying through the Western Region competition, the boys finished on top of their pool to earn a place in the grand final against Hallam Secondary College. In a closely contested match, they narrowly missed the title and finished as State Runners-Up. This was an exceptional achievement that the players, coaches and the entire Bemin Secondary College community are incredibly proud of.
Equally impressive was the way the team represented the school throughout the competition. Under the leadership of captains Steve and Dwayne, the boys demonstrated outstanding respect, sportsmanship and discipline on and off the field. They represented Bemin Secondary College with pride and embodied the values we strive to uphold.
Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding achievement. Their success reflects their hard work, commitment and the bright future of rugby at Bemin Secondary College.

Senior Boys and Girls Basketball
Congratulations to all of our Senior Boys and Girls Basketball players for their efforts this term.
The Senior Boys demonstrated great commitment throughout Term 2, attending after-school training sessions every Friday. Their hard work and dedication were evident on the court. Although they were unfortunately defeated by The Grange by 9 points, they should be very proud of their efforts and the way they represented the school.
A special congratulations also goes to our Senior Girls team, who achieved an outstanding 2nd place finish. Despite having minimal training opportunities, the girls remained committed, worked hard, and performed exceptionally well. They should be extremely proud of their achievement and determination.
Most importantly, all students represented Bemin Secondary College with outstanding behaviour, sportsmanship, and respect throughout the competition. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves both on and off the court.
Well done to all players on a fantastic day!
Danni Ryan
Division Cross Country
Students from Years 7–12 proudly represented Bemin Secondary College at the Division Cross Country event on a very cold and wet day.
A special congratulations to Zawwar and Corey, who both achieved an outstanding 2nd place finish, and to Khan, who finished in an impressive 5th place. All three students have successfully qualified for the next stage of competition and will progress to the Division Round.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, all students demonstrated determination, resilience, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements.
Danni Ryan
Regional Cross Country
Two students competed for Bemin at the regionals Cross Country event at Keilor Park, Zawwar from Year 8 and Khan from Year 12.
Both students represented the school commendably, demonstrating the values of excellence and community. Zawwar smashed his personal best time for 3km by 1min 10s, placing 17th. Khan participated in the fastest race of the day, with an admirable effort and a strong run in the 5km.
It was wonderful to see one of our senior students, Khan, supporting young Zawwar with his warm-up before the race, showcasing the supportive culture we strive to build at Bemin.

Warren Primary Athletics Day-Student Helpers
Well done to our 15 fantastic student leaders who volunteered their time and energy to assist at the Warren Primary School Athletics Day.
Our leaders took on a variety of crucial roles to keep the day running smoothly. From measuring massive leaps at the long jump and officiating heavy throws at the shot put, to organizing the fast-paced relays and ensuring accuracy with timing and placing at the finish line, they handled every task with absolute professionalism. We also had leaders capturing the action behind the lens, managing the videography so families can enjoy the highlights for weeks to come.
The staff at Warren Primary were incredibly grateful, noting our students were enthusiastic, helpful, polite and were a pleasure to work with.
Thank you to these 15 individuals for representing our school so brilliantly and showing what true leadership looks like in our wider community. You made us incredibly proud!
