Student Leadership

Grade 6 Discovery Day
On Monday 23rd of March, the Grade Six students went to Western Port Secondary College for Discovery Day. We basically had a day in the life of a year seven student.
To begin with we were picked up by a bus which we shared with Hastings Primary School. Once we had arrived, we were greeted by the principal and the year seven staff.
To begin with we were assembled in the auditorium where we were introduced to the teachers who did the acknowledgement to country and informed us about the timetable for the day.
Our first class was English, with Miss Trish where we were able to write down any feelings that we had about high school and ask any questions that we needed answered.
Next we had recess where we could play in the playground and talk with students from other schools. It was a great way to interact.
During our maths class we had to solve an escape room situation using whiteboards to answer questions and find the code. We gave it our best shot, but we just didn’t make it to the end.
At lunch time we got to catch up with some past students.
Finally, our last session was Art where we could colour in or draw in the styles of a variety of famous artists.
Before we left the teachers held a raffle with the names of students who had showed the high school’s values throughout the day. Robin and Melissa both won show bags.
Afterwards we caught the bus home.
