Hands On Learning (HOL)

This term in Hands on Learning has been full of teamwork, creativity, and practical experiences.
We have begun designing and creating our Harmony Garden, which will become a calm and peaceful space for students to relax and unwind. The garden will feature a rock riverbed and a variety of beautiful plants, creating a welcoming natural environment. An important part of this project is its functionality, the garden is being designed to help divert water that pools near the office entrance, acting as a natural drainage system.
In addition to our garden project, we have been busy in the kitchen making a range of delicious lunches. Some of our favourites have included egg and bacon sandwiches, nachos, BLTs, and toasted sandwiches. These cooking sessions have allowed us to build independence and confidence while working together as a team.
Throughout the term, we have focused on getting to know one another and strengthening our teamwork skills. Students have worked on maintaining a positive work ethic, staying engaged for the duration of tasks, and reflecting on their learning by sharing what worked well and what could be improved. It has been great to see everyone taking on new challenges with confidence.
We are very proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to continuing our work and completing the Harmony Garden in Term 2.
