SUSTAINABILITY

Bringing Indigenous Plants to Our School Grounds!
We are excited! We are devloping plans to plant indigenous plants in our school as part of our habitat and sustainability projects. Indigenous plants are native to our region and are perfectly suited to the local soil and climate. By planting them, we are creating homes and food sources for local wildlife, including birds like wattlebirds and honeyeaters, insects such as native bees and butterflies, and small animals like frogs and skinks. Our resident Bluetongue Lizard is pumped to bring some friends to the neighbourhood.
These plants also provide many environmental benefits. They help stabilise soil, reduce erosion, and improve water quality, while managing rainfall naturally through our school grounds. The gardens become a living classroom, where we can observe plants and animals, learn about ecosystems, and develop hands-on skills in planting and caring for the environment.
Over time, these new gardens will grow into vibrant, natural spaces for both learning and play. We will see first-hand how our efforts support pollination, create shelter for wildlife, and contribute to a healthier environment. Our school grounds are set to become a thriving, green space that benefits students, wildlife, and the wider community, a place to explore, discover, and connect with nature.
