Our Fortnight in Photos
Cooking Club
Last week in Cooking Club students had a fantastic time making their own quesadillas, a popular dish from Mexico. They practiced safe food preparation skills, worked together and most importantly enjoyed creating (and tasting) their delicious results.
This experience was such a hit that students have asked if quesadillas can be added to our afternoon tea menu…. And we listened! This Thursday quesadillas are on the menu and we
look forward to adding them to the menu more often!
St Patricks Day
On Tuesday we explored Saint Patricks Day and learned about its meaning and origins in Ireland. The day honours Saint Patrick, who is remembered for teaching others about kindness and helping people many years ago.
We also discovered why green is so significant. Ireland is often called the “Emerald Isle” because of its lush green landscapes, and the shamrock became a symbol used by Saint Patrick in his teachings.
To celebrate we enjoyed a green fruit and veggie platter for afternoon tea. In Cooking Club we made Irish Soda bread, a traditional Irish recipe that dates back to the 1800s when baking soda was used instead of yeast to help the bread rise, making it simple quick and perfect for families. There were even some leftovers which we enjoyed for breakfast during before school care on Wednesday!
OSHC Leadership Program
Our OSHC leaders'' program is underway! Students in Years 4-6 have begun applying for leadership positions within our program, giving them the chance to have their voices heard and contribute to decision making at OSHC. Leadership roles include OSHC Captain, Prep Team Leader, Head Chef, Cooking Captain, and Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group Member. These positions allow students to develop responsibility, share ideas, help run activities and support their peers making OSHC a more fun, inclusive and engaging place for everyone. We have extended the application submission date to Monday March 23.
