Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our winter season and cold frosty mornings brings with it triggers and heightened risks for those students diagnosed with Asthma. Please treat this as a timely reminder if your child has been diagnosed with Asthma, Seasonal Asthma or Exercise induced Asthma and familiarise yourself with our College Policy relating to Asthma Management.
- Parents/Guardians to notify the College Medical Centre and update the student’s Operoo portal of all medical conditions including Asthma as well as any medication that a student is required to take on an ongoing basis.
- Every student with Asthma should have a written Asthma Action Plan provided to the College Medical Centre and uploaded on their Operoo portal.
- An integral part of Asthma management is the development of a written Asthma Action Plan by the person with Asthma and/or their carer together with their doctor. An Asthma Action Plan helps the person with Asthma and/or their carer recognise worsening Asthma and gives clear instructions on what to do in response.
- Students who have been diagnosed with Asthma should always carry their blue/grey reliever medication and spacer while at the College and/or attending College organised activities.
Adhering to College policy will ensure staff can provide the best possible care for your child in all situations; this is particularly relevant for our Athletics Carnival coming up in Week 4.
