During the holidays, the College was saddened to hear of the passing of Reverend Gray Birch, and sends their condolences to his wife Roslyn, his family and friends.

Reverend Birch was the Secretary of the College Council during the 1980's, whilst he was Deputy General Secretary of the Australian Inland Mission (AIM)/Frontier Services.

He and Roslyn spent five weeks in residence at St Philip's over the summer of 1978/79 getting the College shipshape after a spate of vandalism at the end of 1978 (see p109 of the book about the history of the College "The Right Amount of Crazy").

Rev. Birch together with Jan Heaslip and Rev. John Lamont were members of the selection panel who chose Chris Tudor to be the new principal at St Philip's in 1986.

The entire College community would like to thank Gray for his wonderful contribution to the College, including his many years of wise counsel.
