Words That Win: Kaylee Takes Out First Place

On Friday, 5 June, Salvado Catholic College student Kaylee Weaire (Year 6) proudly represented our school at Parliament House in Round 2 of the Public Speaking Competition.

Kaylee competed against seven other outstanding students from the Oakford, Armadale, Byford, and Jandakot districts, with two representatives selected from each district. Students were required to present a speech on the current social media ban, a topic that demanded thoughtful research, critical thinking, and confident delivery.

Kaylee delivered a well-prepared and engaging speech, impressing the judges with her exceptional eye contact, thorough research, and confident presentation skills. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she was awarded first place, achieving excellent scores across all judging criteria.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Kaylee's commitment and perseverance. We would also like to acknowledge Mrs Kerry Browne, whose time, dedication, and expert mentoring played a significant role in preparing Kaylee for the competition. A special thank you is also extended to Mrs Zoe Rozario for her ongoing support and encouragement throughout the entire process.

Centre Stage: Salvado Students Chosen for Prestigious Studio Choir

I am incredibly proud to announce that 2 of our Year 6 students, Amy Tawodzera and Ivy Scott, have successfully gained entrance into the One Big Voice Studio Choir Program for 2026! CONGRATULATIONS!

What is the Studio Choir?

The One Big Voice Studio Choir Program offers selected gifted and passionate young singers the unique opportunity to develop in the recording environment. Alongside others of similar ability, theirs are the voices featured on the many recordings produced every year by One Big Voice, used daily by up to 175 schools throughout WA as well as choirs in other parts of the world.

Entrance into the choir is by invitation and audition only and recognises exceptional talent and passion for singing. There are no more than 30 students in the choir at any given time - and Salvado Catholic College has 2 of them! To be recognised for their talent from over 175 schools State-wide is extraordinary.

Amy and Ivy will get the chance to record with the choir, sing on Telethon and perform at Perth City Christmas Pageant - to name but a few of the events they will sing at. The Studio Choir is also featured at One Big Voice on stage each year for both performances.

Please join me in congratulating them for their accomplishment, they are incredibly deserving and I know they are going to blow everyone away. Well done, girls!

Despite the challenges of a long weekend of high-level competition, Ruby-Rose’s commitment and perseverance were evident, contributing to a fantastic team result. This achievement reflects not only her talent, but also her resilience and dedication to her sport.

We are incredibly proud of Ruby-Rose’s success and the way she represents our College both on and off the court. Congratulations on this well-deserved victory! 🏐👏
