From the Principal

“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” – Mother Teresa
Dear Parents, Carers and Members of the St Augustine’s College Community,
It has been another rich and rewarding few weeks at St Augustine’s, with many opportunities for our students, staff and families to learn, connect and celebrate together. The weeks ahead are particularly busy, with many wonderful events planned, so please continue to keep an eye on the College calendar and school communications.
Diocesan Spirituality Day
Last Wednesday, staff from across the Sandhurst Diocese gathered in school hubs for our annual Spirituality Day. St Augustine’s was pleased to host staff from St Patrick’s Tongala and St Mary’s Rushworth. The day provided a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and be spiritually nourished, while reconnecting with our shared mission as Catholic educators. It was also a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the connections between Catholic schools across our region.
Athletics and Sporting Events
Our students have embraced a wonderful range of sporting opportunities over recent weeks, including our F–6 Athletics Carnival, Years 3–6 Waranga Sports and Years 7–12 House Athletics. These events provide much more than competition; they encourage teamwork, resilience, participation and school spirit. I congratulate our students on the way they have represented themselves and St Augustine’s and thank the staff who have worked tirelessly to make these events possible.
National Science Week – Week 6
Next week we celebrate National Science Week, with students engaging in hands-on experiments, problem-solving challenges and exciting demonstrations. Science Week is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their curiosity, creativity and critical thinking while discovering the important role science plays in understanding and shaping our world.
Dental Van – Weeks 5, 6 and 7
The Dental Van will be available at the College across Weeks 5, 6 and 7. Thank you to the families who have supported this opportunity for their children, helping promote positive oral health and wellbeing.
Subject Teacher Conversations – Monday 24th August
Our Subject Teacher Conversations will take place on Monday 24th August. These conversations provide an important opportunity for parents and carers to connect with their child’s teachers, discuss progress and celebrate their learning. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student learning. Please note, this is a student-free day.
Book Week – Week 7
Book Week, with this year’s theme Symphony of Stories, is fast approaching and the enthusiasm for reading is already evident across the College. Our students have been exploring the theme and celebrating the joy, imagination and possibilities that books bring to our lives. The Book Week Parade is always a highlight, and I look forward to seeing the incredible creativity of our students and staff as they dress as their favourite characters.
St Augustine’s Feast Day – Mass and Family Picnic
In Week 7, we will celebrate the Feast Day of our College patron, St Augustine, with a special Mass, followed by our Family Picnic. This is a particularly significant occasion in the life of our College as we gather in prayer and celebration and enjoy the fellowship of our wider school community. Families are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate our shared identity and the example of St Augustine.
Week 8 – Celebrating Community and Family
Week 8 promises to be another wonderful week, when we have our Beaut Blokes Breakfast and Footy Colours Day, Father’s Day Liturgy and Father’s Day Stall. These events provide opportunities for us to celebrate the important people in the lives of our students and strengthen the wonderful sense of community that exists at St Augustine’s.
ORIMA Parent Survey
Finally, a reminder that the ORIMA Parent Survey will open in the coming weeks. This is an important opportunity for families to provide constructive and positive feedback about their experience of St Augustine’s. Your feedback helps us identify what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. As a small incentive, families who complete the survey and send us a photo of their confirmation page will go into the draw for a prize. Further information will be provided through Operoo shortly.
Thank you for your ongoing support of St Augustine’s College. We are blessed to be part of such a vibrant, faith-filled and thriving community, and I look forward to sharing the many wonderful moments of the coming weeks with you.
Kind regards,
Tim Campbell
Principal
