Message From Danielle Baillie
Acting Assistant Principal
I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Danielle Baillie and I am the new Acting Assistant Principal for School Improvement and will be working at Heatherwood School for the remainder of this year.
I have a background in re-engagement, wellbeing and working with at-risk students. I have managed year level teams in very large secondary schools and worked in schools of similar size to Heatherwood. I look forward to working with our staff, students and families to improve our academic and social outcomes.
Student Support Group Meetings are a vital part of the work staff do here at Heatherwood School. SSGs allow staff, students and families to come together to ensure the best possible support is being provided to students while they are here at school. We are required to hold one each term, and this is a perfect opportunity to discuss needs, goals, supports and changes that can be made at a classroom and school level.
We will be holding SSGs at the end of this term, on Tuesday, 16th June and Wednesday, 24th June (3:00 pm–6:30 pm) to prepare for term 3. Please ensure that you book a time to meet with your young person's teacher. During the SSG, staff will discuss the IEP goals they have created. Goals should directly relate to the learning that occurs within the classroom.
As we near the end of Semester 1, teaching staff are busy writing reports. Reports will be released before the end of the term. Reports will include a general comment about the subject or class, entry and exit skills in relation to student IEP goals. Due to the industrial action, some comments will be omitted.
I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and daily work with our students.
Danielle Baillie
Acting Assistant Principal
