Things got a little messy in Year 8 Science as students explored how volcanoes erupt. Students worked together to build their own volcanoes before bringing them to life with a bubbling, fizzing chemical reaction. There were plenty of smiles, surprises and eruptions along the way as students put their science knowledge into action.

Â
Paintbrushes out and creativity in full swing! Our students have been busy painting, adding their own colours, details and personal touches to their work. It’s been great to see everyone getting stuck in and watching their creations take shape, with no two pieces quite the same.

Â
Our students have been busy in the kitchen making baked spuds. From fluffy potatoes to tasty toppings, everyone had the chance to create their own delicious combination. There’s nothing quite like a warm, loaded potato to make lunchtime extra special.

Â
Our Year 8 students got hands-on at the Tech School demonstration, exploring the exciting world of hydrogen fuel cells. They built their own fuel cell and used it to produce hydrogen, which was then converted into electricity to power a fan and eventually a car. A fantastic opportunity for students to see science in action and discover how alternative energy sources can power the technology of the future.

Â
Year 8 students will have the opportunity to express their interest in attending the School for Student Leadership at the Snowy River Campus in Marlo during Term 2, 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zone, experience new challenges and develop their leadership skills in a different learning environment. Students interested in taking part are encouraged to register their expression of interest at the Year 8 Hub. More information will be shared soon.
