Principal's Message

Dear Parent and Carers,
As we progress through Term 4 I want to take a moment to reflect on the important work we continue to do to keep every child safe, supported and cared for at our school. Creating an environment where students feel safe, valued and empowered to speak up, knowing their voices will be heard, is at the heart of everything we do.
We have been working very closely with the Department of Education to review our child safety and wellbeing policies and practices to make sure they continue to meet the Victorian Child Safe Standards and reflect our strong commitment to every student’s wellbeing.
Child safety is everyone’s responsibility, and it remains a high priority for all staff. If you ever have any concerns, questions or feedback - especially about child safety - please contact me. We value your voice and will always listen and take action where needed.
Our Child Safety policies are available on our website at any time (Policies and Procedures).
As we continue to prioritise the safety, wellbeing and success of every student, it is equally important to recognise the people who play such a significant role in supporting them each day. Today, on World Teachers’ Day, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our teachers for the care, dedication and commitment they bring to our school community.
Teaching extends far beyond the classroom. Our teachers not only educate our students in their academic learning, but also guide them as they navigate challenges, develop friendships, build positive relationships and develop compassion for others. Guided by our College values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, and working in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community, we strive to model positive behaviours and provide the encouragement and support our students need to develop the skills and confidence to succeed into adulthood.
Every student’s path is unique, and we celebrate the many different ways they learn, grow and achieve success. What remains constant is our belief that every student at Bairnsdale Secondary College has the ability to achieve success in their own way. Whether through academic achievement, personal growth, sporting accomplishments, creative pursuits or contributions to our community, there is so much to celebrate across our College.
As you browse through this newsletter, I invite you to join me in recognising and celebrating the many achievements of our students and the dedication of the staff who support them. These successes reflect the strength of our College community and the positive impact we can have when we work together.
On behalf of the College, I extend my sincere thanks to our teachers, parents, carers and wider community for your ongoing support, partnership and commitment to helping every student feel safe, supported and empowered to succeed.
Sincerely,
Tony Roberts
