Year 10 Peer Support Buddies at UHS

University High School runs a comprehensive transition program as students join the UHS community. Part of this journey is supported by a group of Year 10 students who selflessly volunteer their time to welcome and connect with the newest members of our school community.
The Peer Support Program sees Year 10 students guide younger students during their orientation, run elements of the Year 7 Gundiwindi Camp, and deliver 4 x Connect Sessions throughout the year focused on social and emotional learning as well as Respectful Relationships.
Year 10 students have been working alongside Year 7 students to help them integrate into healthy routines and habits at UHS. They have run sessions that focus on the themes of friendship, navigating social dilemmas, self-worth, and self-esteem. With one more session to go for 2026, we are thankful for the sustained commitment of 70+ Year 10 students in mentoring younger students.
The Year 10 and Year 7 sub-schools would also like to thank the 2026 Peer Support Student Training Team and the Lets Talk Program for their support in developing sessions for student leaders.
We look forward to rounding off the program for 2026 and starting the process of training our next group of student leaders in Term 3 and 4.
