Year 7 Camp 2026

The Year Sevens were taken away for three days to a campground best described as wondrous, with many enjoyable activities it was easy to forget that we all had to come back home, many activities left us happily exhausted afterwards and the most enjoyable memories were with our friends, enjoying it in the moment. We had a fun time having our best shots on the target and on the giant swing, but some of the best experiences were at night where we bush danced and went for long walks with our friends.
Activities
The giant swing was something many of us enjoyed much during camp. We pulled each other up as high as we wanted and then let go in order to make it work the person at the top had to pull a red cord and release themselves, causing them to plummet down and “swing”.
The flying fox, whilst we all enjoyed the massive swing some preferred the flying fox, which left us zooming (quite literally). We were strapped on to a harness and zoomed downward, some brave souls went sideways, upside down or even backwards as they chose to zoom -to what I felt sure would be my death-.
Archery was preferred by those who wanted both feet to be firmly on the ground, but otherwise wanted the thrill of watching the arrow zoom toward the target (and hopefully come close to hitting it) at a quick, thrilling pace.
Hut building was preferred by the creative souls and those who wanted less stress, not to say the competition wasn't stressful as we tried -with difficulty- to beat the others from our groups.
Damper cooking. Some of us tried our skills in damper making, where we tested our strengths against the dough as it may be put to try and make an edible loaf.
The Low Ropes Course was something many of us tried, we confidently tackled the ropes where we tried our best not to fall (something I was very bad at).
But a break from the constant activities would finally be presented to us as we got to know each other as part of the UHS Berry Street Wellbeing Activity. When we learned about each other and the values at UHS, we also learned much about kindness and the effect we can have on others.
Other Events
During camp we not only had fun activities, we also had many things to do in between, like trampolines we had much fun on, we had a volleyball court, playground and football field to keep us entertained in between activities.
Bush dancing was something many of us enjoyed, we learnt how people used to dance in Australia, before other entertainment made in the more modern world.
Bush Walks were definitely a highlight of the experience, we wandered through bushland at night and watched as the night surrounded us in deep black, with speckles of white all around us.
The quiz was a great time to test our trivia knowledge against each other and have a good time figuring it out with our friends. It was puzzling but also fun to learn the answers. It was organised by the year 10’s who helped us all the way along the camps.
Healesville Sanctuary was a great way to wind down after camp, on the last day we all went to Healesville sanctuary to look at the wildlife there and learn much about birds, and other native wildlife.
After the long 3 days at camp, we finished happily exhausted and ready for the rest of year seven, it's safe to say that most of us had a wonderful time and are all ready for our next camp in year eight.
