Term 3 is certainly in full swing, as we begin to emerge out of the depths of Winter with all the bugs and ills this often brings. The children have slipped back into their established routines and are working and engaging well with their classes.

By now Year 3 and 5 parents will have received their children’s NAPLAN reports and be informed as to how they are progressing with their learning. These reports provide a snapshot of where your child is tracking on the Victorian Curriculum learning journey and give indications of your child’s strengths as well as areas where they need to do some work to benefit their learning. The teachers are happy to chat with you if you have any questions about these reports and explain any points you need clarification on.

The Year 4-6 students have almost completed their term 3 season for interschool sport in hot shots tennis and soccer. So far, we have had mixed results each week, but the students’ skills are certainly improving week on week. They continue to represent Macleod College proudly, demonstrating our values consistently.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our P-6 excursion to Edendale Farm on Thursday 13th August. This excursion certainly reinforced our focus on Sustainability this term for all of the classes. The students experienced firsthand how we recycle materials, plant life cycles as well as what benefits composting and growing our own food can bring. I know the P-2 children loved seeing the farm animals. The alpacas are currently in gestation and will give birth in the early Spring, so the children would love to go back to visit the baby crias.

Last week the Prep students celebrated their first 100 days of school. They participated in lots of learning and fun activities related to the theme over the week. They looked very cute in their costumes for a dress up day which happily coincided with Science Week dress up day.  They also enjoyed some learning with their buddies over the week. I’m sure this week will remain a firm memory from their school days for them all.

We are currently taking enrolments for 2027, so if you are yet to enrol for Prep or any of the year levels please don’t delay, let your neighbours know, also as this will help us to plan for our classes for next year.  Alternatively, please let us know if you have plans to leave us at the end of the year, so that we can firm up our numbers.
