Science

Term 1 has been an action-packed start for the Science Department! From university labs to engineering showdowns, our students have been busy putting theory into practice.
YEAR 12 CHEMISTRY - CSU LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
On February 16, our Year 12 Chemistry cohort traded their school desks for professional workstations at Charles Sturt University. This excursion provided a fantastic bridge between secondary and tertiary education. Working alongside CSU staff, students utilised specialised university facilities to conduct complex practical activities directly related to their HSC course. This hands-on experience will help students build and strengthen the skills required throughout the year.
Thank you to Miss Taylor for coordinating this trip and supporting our senior scientists.
YEAR 10 - SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE
On March 24 ,representatives from Year 10 participated in the Science and Engineering Challenge, presented by the University of Newcastle in conjunction with Inland Rail Skills Academy, Kooringal Rotary Club, Riverina Water, Transgrid and Nixons Engineering.
Competing against schools from across the Riverina, students were challenged to solve real-world design problems. They applied their skills and teamwork to a range of hands-on activities, including building bridges and wind turbines, designing gliders, constructing robotic hands, and developing electricity distribution systems.
After a big day of competition we are excited to announce that our students were named as overall champions. Thank you to the Miss Brennan for asisstance on the day.
