Intermediate Soccer

🏐 SOCCER - Intermediate

Thirty-one of our Year 9 and 10 students took the field this week at the School Sport Victoria Upper Hume Soccer carnival in Wodonga.

Both teams finished Top 3 against strong opposition, with the girls achieving a 1-2 record and the Boys 1-1.

The Intermediate girls defeated Victory Lutheran College 2-0 in the playoff for 3rd.

Co-Captain Inanay Gilson (who only flew back into Australia three days ago after a six-month exchange in Spain) knocked in a penalty, and Tiahna Pantling scored a screamer from distance after running on to a looping ball on the edge of the box.

The Intermediate boys had an epic 3-2 win over Wodonga Middle Years Felltimber, clawing back from a 0-2 deficit.

Year 9 Captain and Murray United FC midfielder Zak Winn was the maestro setting up all 3 goals. 

The first was a corner ball into Wangaratta City FC player Panath Tep who headed in.

The second was a cannoning shot which bounced off the keeper for striker Andrew Fraser to pounce and smash in to make it 2-2 at the half.

The match-winner, as he has been before, was Clarence Lampa. With just a minute on the clock, Winn smashed another bullet into the keeper, and Lampa pounced, stretching out a leg surrounded by 4 defenders, tapping in to win us the match.
