Year 9 CLC Celebration Assembly

Year 9 Volunteers Complete Epic 9 Week Journey, Present to Audience Of Over 200.

Our tremendous Semester 1 Year 9 C.L.C. (Community Leadership Challenge) cohort (9D and 9E) put the icing on the cake of their journey yesterday (Wednesday 24 June).

In front of more than 200 people in our Performance Arts Centre, each group confidently presented their achievements, challenges and personal growth, supported by detailed slide presentations.

MCs Ky Press and Jack Vincent did a fantastic job, showcasing the public speaking skills they first developed as School Captains at Wangaratta West Primary School, with many proud family members watching on.

Despite the large audience, every Year 9 student spoke with confidence. As always, it was one of the most inspiring events of the school year.

Many of our community hosts attended, including Di Duursma from Wang Night Shelter, who praised the efforts of Amelie Booth, Jane Foster, Milly Appleby and Ella Lindsay for helping create 200 rough sleeper bags and collecting more than 100 deodorant sticks for people experiencing homelessness.

Patti Stafford from Inner Wheel also spoke, thanking Bailey Bridgfoot, Charlie Couche, Dexter Jeffries, Georgia Kelly, Sam Longman, Khyran McDonald and Annabelle Wills for preparing more than 400 meals for The Care Van. She presented each student with a personalised Volunteer Certificate.

Congratulations to all of our students. You have been one of the finest C.L.C. groups we've seen, demonstrating empathy, kindness, resilience and a genuine commitment to your community.

Thank you to our community partners—Inner Wheel, Wang Night Shelter, Wangaratta Primary School, Wangaratta West Primary School, WDSS, St John's Village and Iloura Aged Care—and to our audience, especially our respectful Year 7 and 8 students. Thank you also to Principal Dave Armstrong for another inspiring address on the importance of service.

A special thank you to Michelle Wilson and Newmo for once again leading the program, with Michelle marking 17 years of guiding C.L.C.

Please enjoy these wonderful photos showcasing our students behind the scenes as they prepared for the C.L.C. Celebration, as well as memorable moments from the celebration itself.

We now look forward to welcoming our Semester 2 cohort—9A, 9B and 9C.

COMING SOON: C.L.C. Yearbook (Semester 1 Edition).

Jud Mullins, Michelle Wilson, Sandy Newman

C.L.C Coordinators.
